The 12-24 plus 55-300 makes for a very light and versatile kit for me. For more versatility (and weight) I sometimes add the FA 100/2.8 macro. It can certainly bring out distant views nicely. This bridge is between our house, North of the Elk River in a subdivision and the main centre of Sparwood.

Great shots, Brooke. I went to two of his exhibitions when I was working in Chicago in the early 2000's. I find his work absolutely fascinating.

Nice image you have created. I have the 12-24 and use it an awful lot. My 16-50 doesn't get much use compared to it, because I tend to go wide whenever possible for scenery, as you did superbly here.

You would need both. They are completely different in their outlook: the 12-24 is definitely not a fisheye, the 10-17 is definitely fisheye.

Shows the lens off nicely. I love mine as well. Working with the other end of the focal lengths the last few weeks. 1.7x400=680 mm. M 400/5.6 on AFA 1.7x

That's easy. here are the steps to take:
1. Find a superb subject in perfect lighting
2. Send all the people who are in your way away
3. Set your camera on a tripod
4. Set SR off
5. Set framing perfectly
6. Take the shot.
Personally, I have #1 and #6 down perfect, and sometimes even do #3 and #4. It's #5 that I have trouble with.

I could not see the Pentax DA 12-24 in the archive - I'll check your index and move the postings. Thanks

This photo is an example of a Moose 77mm Circular Polarizer with the lens at 12mm. The Moose CPL includes an 81 class warming filter. Note the shadow at the right side, and there is a hair line on the left that is almost invisible except in the corners. This photo is also in my Flickr account, full size jpeg if you want to examine it more closely.
I find that I will not be using the filter with this lens again, but not entirely because of the filter appearing in the photo at the widest setting, but rather that the effect on the sky with an ultra-wide lens is too obvious. I may use it to cut reflections in certain circumstances.
