Beautiful shot mate.
I tried a Zeiss 15 last week and didn't like it all that much. Whilst it had much lower distortion (and better flare handling) than the 14-24 it had horrendous coma that I just couldn't abide. I was looking forward to that lens, I also have a Zeiss 21mm which hardly gets used (lazy), as I was hoping to find an excuse to sell the Nikon.

The 1st two shots have vastly different perspective distortion (keystoning) with the Nikon being more exaggerated, probably due to the inclination of the lens. Also, the Tamron shot has a similar background FOV but the foreground is tighter, possibly due to being shot farther away from the subject.
The Nikon does have worse flare than the tamron, according to reviews I've read, but perhaps it's not inferior coatings that are to blame so much as the highly curved front element.

I have a 14-24 which seems to be pretty good although I don't like the stretched corners when lens corrections are applied. I've been eyeing the tamron due to lower distortion mainly, but I doubt I'd sell the Nikon without confirming the Tamron copy's quality first.

Nice work. QLD seems back to looking like a paradise. How do you find the lens?

Thanks for the reply. I'll be selling some Nikon stuff in the near future although I'll probably keep the D810 for now.

Very nice shots IHII.
Do you still use the D800 or have you sold the Nikon stuff?
I must say that I love the contrast and colour in these Sony shots.

Great shot! I love the tone, the pop and the mystery. The composition is brilliant too as the dog connects perfectly to the background.

Nice! I had my Zeiss 21 on eBay for 24 hours but chickened out and delisted it after taking a few "parting goodbye" shots. There's just something about the contrast that "gets you" as evidenced in your fine shot. ---------- Post added 14-06-14 at 05:37 PM ---------- Trying to work through a few ideas for the Pentax Forums round 2 of the "Win a K-3 Competition":

Focus speed is fine.. I'm not conscious of having to wait for it and it's accurate.

Today I bought a Sigma 50mm F1.4 "Art". I also grabbed a USB Dock for it but haven't had much time to set it up. It was front focussing a bit and I luckily "guessed" a +5 adjustment which seems to be working a treat. It's a great lens but I'm surprised that there's still an obvious LGCA (most reviews started it was almost invisible) and a touch of Purple Fringing when shooting wide open. From about f/2.8 on my DA*55 is pretty much on par although the bokeh of the DA* isn't in the same league.
Here are a few Cat Test Shots (yes ubiquitous cat shots). As they are generally moving subjects with a lot of fine detail (hair) I thought it a decent way to test resolution, focus speed/accuracy: Rusty-10 by bossa*, on Flickr Rusty-11 by bossa*, on Flickr Zen by bossa*, on Flickr Watching The Sunset by bossa*, on Flickr

Great shot and funny too.
The Tamron is indeed a great lens although at 70mm it's soft and needs stopping down a stop or two. At all other FL's it seems to match the primes I have quite easily so I've decided to sell a few.

Just over a week ago I visited the Adelaide Botanic Gardens. The weather was great and I was in town for a hospital appointment (next door) and so I managed to spend a few hours walking around this wonderful place.

Wonderful stuff as usual Mark.
My Zeiss isn't an "old 20" but I'll guarantee it's pretty wonderful. I need to cut my debts by selling a few things.

Cheers

PS> I just bought a Tamron 24-70 and will likely be selling my Nikkor 35/1.4G in case anyone is interested
