Put the Tamron through extensive testing today, and decided that as good as it is and as much as I like the focal length...........I'm just not very fond of the scew drive focus, and think my KX might have something wrong with it's drive motor anyways, as it seems way too loud. But IDK, cause I haven't used a screw drive auto focus lens since getting rid of the kit lenses some years back and maybe just been spoiled by the HSM on the Sigma. So, looks like this is getting put up for sale and will be on the lookout for a 17-70mm Sigma with HSM. Will also entertain trades for that particular lens as well. Stay tuned.

Picked it up today, and just starting to work with it by taking some test photos. 1st thing was a noticeable front focus problem that I quickly corrected in the KX with debug mode. Only wish the KX kept lens profiles to make switching easier, as nearly all other lenses I have are perfect with +130 and the Tamron likes -40. 2nd is that I'm gonna need to get use to or adjust settings in order to compensate for the more vivid contrasty blue color spectrum the Sigmas are known to put out vs this lens's more natural/slightly warm feel. I'll be taking it out for a thorough test run tomorrow putting it through it's paces. But initial impression so far is excellent.

I went through many many of my photos exif data, and very few are actually wide angle <24mm or so. $275 for this nearly mint Tammy is just too good to pass on when so little of my shooting ia done at wide angle.

Have a chance to pick up a Tammy 28-75 for a decent price that would be replacing my current standard zoom which is an excellent copy of Sigma's 18-50 f2.8-4. I can't really afford both (kinda redundant anyways) so I would need to sell the Sigma in order to help fund the Tammy purchase. No issues with my Sigma, but look forward to the extra bit of reach on the tele end. Afraid I'm gonna miss the shorter wide side and quiet HSM though. Anyone go this route and regret it? I currently don't have anything else to cover the <28mm wide angle. Sure, it gives an excuse to buy another "ultra-wide" zoom, but that would be a ways out at this time.
