Just got the mid-2012 Really Right Stuff catalog. Cover photo was made by Joe Johnson (RRS owner) with a 645D. Not really getting my hopes up for better Pentax support from RRS re camera plates, but nice to see this anyway.

Oh my, we photographers are a funny lot. :D Hard to imagine any birds would sit still for that. Well, at least you saw one other Pentaxian. (Pop-up flash with a 300?)

Spotted yesterday, two kids (probably college students; this was in a college town) on a scooter, she on the back doing some ride-by street photography with a camera on a standard Pentax strap. Couldn't tell what camera or lens, but it was black and the lens was fairly small.

Yes, but you see, if you have the strap around your neck, you "look like a tourist". Heaven forfend that one should "look like a tourist", especially while, um, touring.

Was asked about my K10D yesterday by someone I know, but we hadn't talked photography before. He used to shoot Pentax back in the screwmount days, and was impressed when I told him that you could still use the old lenses with an adapter. (He sold all his gear long since, though.) He was also impressed by the in-body shake reduction, programmable user mode, and the programmable dual wheels. I'll see if I can convince him to jump back into photography with a Pentax. :)

At Linville Falls (popular stop on the Blue Ridge Parkway) I saw a group of three, each with a DSLR: one Canon, one Nikon, and one Pentax! I chatted with my fellow Pentaxian for a minute. He had a K20D with an SMC A 1:2.8 50mm macro. Said he's given the lens some hard knocks but never a problem.
