That snail is a standout, even by your high standards. Especially good composition.

Indeed -- I don't comment on these as often as I should -- I take excellent arthropod macro from hangman43 for granted!

Super shots, plus it's satisfying seeing a gypsy moth being dispatched and prevented from doing more damage.

That's some high-quality insect macro, with superb lighting!
That is a tough looking robber fly, well done with the M50/1.4!

As usual there have been many excellent shots in this thread, but this one stands out as something really unusual -- great shot!

Love that blue/green skipper!
Very nice, and impressive for a non-macro zoom lens.

I'd love to see an ID for that jaunty bug! Some kind of shield bug I guess. Photolady, I had the same though about your bug -- looks a lot like a Boxelder bug, but not quite enough red.

Impressive shot of a tick. Although my tendency would be to shoot it with something other than a camera. :D

Thanks for that. So, with your Assassin bugs and Leafhopper, plus Mar's whatever it is, we have quite the selection of Hemipterids on this page.

Early morning with lots of dew. Even so I was surprised at how patient the bug was as I kept bumping the plant around. Maybe she was an experienced model.

Thanks Martin! I had tried a lot of shots of this particular insect, but was having real trouble because of how it was positioned -- I kept bumping into the plant with one of my flashes, or the lens hood, or my hands. Then if I did get the camera in position for a close shot I had a lot of flare problems, I think because I was backlighting the leaf with one flash. Anyway, this was with the Sigma 70mm macro at closest focus (1:1), on an additional 50mm of extension (a pair of de-glassed A-type TCs), which results in about 1.8:1 magnification, and this is a 100% crop. For this shot I just used one flash, more or less above the subject, with diffuser.
