Excellent pair of shots, correctly exposed and focused, and nicely composed. Well done, and welcome to photography, to Pentax, and to Pentax Forums!

Nice work! Walk up or drive? :)
Gives new meaning to "street photography". #2 especially good.

+1 on both counts. What a great way to get unique and compelling landscapes in mid-day sun. The clouds in #2 are perfect. Is that Mt. Jefferson?

Hard to mistake that one. :) Ruddy Duck (male, breeding plumage).

Nice set, and you really nailed the light in #3, using the building as a reflector, giving the subject depth and soft tones at the same time.

Ah, of course. You might look into a three-position rubber hood.

I was wondering why you got vignetting in that one. Lose/break the original hood, or just don't like it?

A perfect use case for fill flash with the pop-up. Very well done, just enough for contrast control.

Looking back through some older stuff, came across a pair of images showing different aspects of the 18-55's bokeh:
31mm @ f/4 (i.e., wide open):
43mm @ f/8: |

I hope that was taken with the Llama Spit Resistant version of the kit lens...

K10D, kit lens at 35mm, f5.6, ISO 100, 1/45 sec. Probably used a tripod.
