"Professional" reviews are found where?? -- On websites that are funded by camera retailers. You're likely reading a review on a web page that contains links to Adorama or B&H or whatever. The web site is able to exist because it helps to sell cameras. That's why you don't have to pay.
Reviews are valuable when you're doing your pre-purchase research, but you shouldn't stop there. Google is your friend. Type the name of the product you're considering followed by the word 'problem'. Like this: https://www.google.ca/search?q=Nikon+600+problem&oq=Nikon+600+problem&aqs=ch...m=119&ie=UTF-8
Helps to get a more complete story.
