In my opinion, you get what you pay for. If you want to save money on tripods, get a known quality product the first time instead of running thru 2-3 garbage products first. As stated above, Manfrotto makes good tripods. I've been happy with my Mefoto Globe Trotter (I think that's the model name). Vanguard, Really Right Stuff also make excellent tripods but are quite a bit more expensive. I'd say we should have a forum-wide push to add reviews to the accessories database so folk like the Op have a better resource to use. I'll review my tripods this weekend.
