Are we really THAT rare?

How many I didn't have my camera with me stories have had on this thread? Here is one more.
Last night we had the annual Art Night festival in my city. The biggest event here.
Every year I take my camera with me. Every year.
This year I decided that I will not so I can enjoy the festival, as I also have to pay attention to my kids so they don't get lost in the crowd.

I was watching an orchestra playing when a guy with a camera two meter away crouched down to take picture. I gave a quick look and saw a white lens. So I thought canon. Sad face.

Then I gave a second look and it looked like it was silver rather than white. I then tried to look at he strap but the colors were faded somehow. At this moment my curiosity had gotten the best of me so I just approached him.

.....and behold it was a Pentax k20D with a SMC 28-100m lens mounted on it. I almost hugged him. Aaaaahhhhhh! :)

A Pentaxian in my own city. He has had the k20D since its release. I spoke with him and he been planning to get a K-5 even though we talked a little about the K-3.

The only time I met a pentax user and did not have my own camera. Crap!

Does it count that last night I had a good convo with two pentax shooters in my dream.

I dont remember though what the conversation was about but I do remember i thought to myself in the dream I am going to mention this on this thread.

It was only when I woke up that I realized it was a dream. :) :)

Last week I went with my neighbor to our kids recital for the daycares in the area. I knew he was a photographer. But I didn't know what he shot and what brand.

In any case at the event he pull out a sony A77 with a nice 18-30ish f2.8 lens. I pulled out my K30, he said oh you have a pentax. Not in a disparaging way.

I asked you know about pentax. His comment was, good body, weather resistance, etc. Then continued to mention that his colleague at work has a pentax.

I was impressed. At this event there were only 4 people including me with dslrs. One pentax (me), two sonys, one lady with a camera I couldn't figure out the brand.

I didn't want to look like a creep staring to figure it out (this is because two weeks ago I got caught in the gym by a lady as I was trying to read a long text on her chest)

This sounds like the class that I had last year. I was also the only pentax shooter in my class. One nikonian had just about every gadget you can think about. His pictures.....errrm.

Interestingly the canon guys and the nikon guy seem to tease each other. It was fun to watch.

After the course I was talking with the instructor how to get some money for my photography.

He gave some ideas but then went on to say that me and one other guy had the best pictures to show at the end of the course.

I was in Tallin, Estonia two weeks ago. I saw a lady with a K5II who had just crossed zebra crossing I was about to take.

After taking the cross and walking to one of the shopping malls, I entered a Sony center shop. I went in there to see if they had the A7s.

I asked the lady so I can try them. In our conversation she mentioned that she used to own a K1000 when I said I was a pentax shooter

She really knew her stuff about photography because when I ask the guy there about the cameras, he went and got her.

Two months a go I saw a guy with a pentax whilest I was in Shockholm doing night photography. I mean him and I.
He is a forum member but not that active. I just approached him as I was walking away from a restaurant that I was eat at where I had taken my shots.
I was on a business trip so I was curious as to what he was shooting as had just finished mine.
As I approached I noticed the lens he had on his camera. You dont have to own a limited lens to notice one. When I got closer I introduced myself and we got to talking.
It was really an experience. To meet a pentax user at night. My work colleagues taught that was the highlight of our business trip for me. Well including the old lady who spoke Finnish to me Sweden.

Here is my shoot of that night.

Its interesting that even a non-pentax person is excited when they see someone using a pentax. Him rushing over to come and tell you. Nice
I would have gone searching too like you did. Too bad you didnt find him.

In any case a couple of weeks a go when we had the art night in my city, I was taking a shot when another photographer just approached me to look at my camera. I had a blue K30 with 18-135mm. I dont know why he would do that because he had a 5D MKII.

I asked him how he liked the 5D and he said he liked it very much. But he didnt ask anything more about my camera except the initial curiousity.
I thought it was a little strange. Maybe I spooked him with a rare brand. :D

That same night people kept saying, that is a really nice camera. It must be expensive. How much is it? :p

Recently I went to a gathering where I was taking pictures with my blue K30.
On the second day of the gathering a saw a girl with a canon and was just talking with her and if she has gotten any good pictures. And that if I could see her pictures.
I just wanted to see her photography style. Nothing about which camera is better. Wasnt even carrying my camera then.

Anyway whilst going through the pictures I saw a blue camera is somebodies hand. No face. I was a little bit surprised.
So I asked her, "Is that me". She said yes, and that she thought my camera looked really nice.

I felt like Chris Rock who went on a safari shooting animals in South Africa and saw that other people were shooting him.

Its nice to own a pentax :)

Yesterday was an exceptional day for me. I went to my sisters graduation in a city 70km from the city that I live in, and of-course was shooting there. This city has a smaller population than mine city. I have driven through it several times.

After the graduation party we took my sister to lunch in the city center. As we parked the car, I saw a huge sign, PENTAX. Now this was how it happen. I was just looking around and I saw the sign pentax, turned to concerntrate. Then I froze, blinked and turned back, PENTAX!!! Goose pimples all over my skin. I wonder if CANIKON people will ever get this kind of rush I had. Interestingly it was PENTAX, NIKON, CANON. But PENTAX was the first word. Go figure.

Anyway we parked the car and I excused myself to go to the shop. It was like stepping into Candyland. K-5II, K-5IIs, K-30, Qs all enclosed behind glass closets. Lenses, sweet beautiful lenses. I was speechless I couldnt even speak when the sales guy came to ask if I need help.

To make a long story short, I looked at the K-30 (which I am planning on buying) and the K-5II just so I can say that I have held the legendary k-5II in my hand and I have seen paradise.
I plan to buy from them if I can get a bargain just to support the shop for giving me a wonderful day yesterday. I also know where to go if there is ever a new model of Pentax.

Interesting. I actually also saw my first pentax shooter this summer when I was on vacation in demark. It was a lady with a k-r. We talked a bit. But she was not so excited as I was to see another pentax user. I presumed she might have borrowed it from her husband or a friend. It was up north in Silkeborg.
