Got the new DFA 70-200 to replace my F70-210, just because of the wider aperture.
But that oldschool F lens is really really good.. |

Crazy weather on the other side of the pond - we really had a week of spring warmth this season, and its is back to "winter".. But had a chance to catch some sun.

Had a very bright day, and some challenge shooting in front of the sun.
In such moments I always wish we could be in places for the right time of the day to take the pictures we foresee in our head..

Well, I did not expect that, but DFA 28-105 is something really unique..
I did some quick tests comparing long range center sharpness and quality with (50-135mm, 100mmWR, 70-210mm) and that thing was 1:1 with 100 Macro and above the rest.
Picture is not from the test, but a quick random snap. Sun is just behind her naughty hair. I got this pretty underexposed, but did some recovery on LR.
The only thing I might miss is just bit more BOKEH. The rest is just perfect.

Not my best picture, but to point out - two Yognuo Speed-lights were used with Wireless transmitters.
Pentax Fa35, ƒ/8.0, 3s. iso100.
P.s I`ve just bit the bullet and ordered DFA 28-105 from US to Lithuania from B&H.
I hope it will stand a chance against my legacy primes being versatile and WR.

This is a picture thread, not a Karate class, if you did not want to show your superiority yourself - you would have PM`d me for a further discussion, and believe me - at the end of the dialogue you could finally understand that my intentions are friendly.
Please have piece in your mind, and good luck with everything.

Bob, you are not my friend - i had no idea how old are you, either what were your passing exams back in your days. If you like that to be known for others - make sure to drop this info into the signature.
I commented and given advise on my good will only. Some of the users here that uses cameras do not take Certified exams, and welcome the friendly advise.
One is to take theoretical exams, and other is to use the same knowledge in practice. Good-luck, and sorry if my previous comments spoiled your afternoon.

No, i understand what you mean, and I`m aware of soft portraits, but I guess when the concept of a soft focus portrait is present - you will have much less doubt if the straight of camera JPG done with 28-105mm DFA f3.5-5.6 is in focus or in shake/motion blur. ---------- Post added 03-07-17 at 11:51 AM ----------
HoustonBob - this one is lot better. For heads up on K1 - please check if your SR (Shake Reduction) is on.
You can also bump up the ISO one stop to have a bit faster shutter speed. Also - you can decrease the distance/range to get a higher F stop. All this should eliminate the motion blur from the subject. :)

Hello,
I`m back from Monte Carlo long time ago, but was off sick from the exhaust and wanted to have a rest before coming back with it in Lightroom.
I never thought that would be such a challenge and hard work. All of our team thought it would be similar to a mini golf day out. Oh no - it was not.
The reality hit us hard. We barely slept, most of the times sitting in cars. We traveled miles and miles of twisty mountain roads. Almost had no proper meal, most of the time - shitty sandwiches from local Gas Stations. To be honest, though i have never been to Dakar rally (some of my friends were), it felt like one.
But we were holding up strong as a team - the only other team similar to our were BMW-Mini team representing the legendary Rauno Aaltonen.
The only really sad moment was petrol pump failure at the end of the first stage. Because of it we were late to time control and finish back in Monte Carlo (1.5 hours drive for 50km`s of mountain road) and it officially meant the end of our rally.
But the Monte Carlo Rally judges and committee, seeing the will and how enthusiastic we were (let me remind you that we were the first independent Lithuanian team entering this rally since 1940something :) ), allowed us to continue without qualifying for a result. And we were happy to continue.
Finally i feel recovered, have a lot of pictures from the event, selected some "for a glimpse" :

Sorry for a long post especially if it may be not interesting to you.
If you liked it though - you can find more at Monte Carlo Historique - preview | Flickr .
I will create couple more albums in the future, as this is only a preview.
Despite having and using mostly of my old school lenses (Samyang 14mm 2.8f, FA35 f2, FA77 f1.8 LTD, F 70-210mm f4-5.6 , D FA 100mm f/2.8 WR Macro) K1 was ant exceptional tool in this journey - reliable, durable and with great quality for photojournalism (I had to deliver a small gallery each evening to our local web newspaper).
I really dream on for 24-70 WR and 70-200 combo.. But what is more affordable to me is 28-105 (just - I am not really sure if this suit my style, as I love shallow depth of field and wide appertures..)
