I'll try to make it a bit clearer:
- I shot two series of 5 pictures using the burst mode on my DS.
- This was a composite of 7 shots.
- I used one of the shots as the primary background.
- From the other 6 shots, I copied just my son on his bike (along with any shadows) and pasted it on a new layer above the background shot using the varies marks on the concrete to align each copied section.
- By using a layer for each picture of my son, I could use levels to match the brightness of the concrete to the brightness on the background shot (the clouds did move some and change the light)
- After I merged all the layers, I used the smudge tool and a 35% 0pacity clone brush to hide/blend any odd looking transitions between the background layer and the pasted sections.
Hope this helps.

I should have mentioned that it is best if you use manual mode for shooting these burst shots. The camera will change your settings as the person moves if you don't shoot in manual. That makes it a bit harder to blend the images.

I held the shutter down in burst mode (it took two runs to get all of the pictures, as the DS is a little slow in frames per sec) and then copied/pasted my son from the last 6 onto the first picture using layers.
This one only required one set of 5 bursts.

My son has recently taken up BMX riding. Here are a few shots from hanging out while he rides (I've posted some of these in other threads).
