looked out the window the other morning and spotted some local roos grazing in the neighbouring paddock.
i was lucky in that i had the long zoom on the camera already but unfortunately quality isn't the best.

Don't they have their own booth? Like a window where they get direct service from the librarian?

We've had a few storms this evening and when I took the pups out for dinner this evening guess what I see checking out the world sitting on the lawn chair under the verandah? A frog!! Quick as a flash I grabbed a fast fifty (Meyer Optik Gorlitz 50/1.8) and started shooting.
Here's the first few with just light from the balcony.
Elsie finished her dinner and came to see what I was doing and say hello to Mr Little Frog
As you can see, they're ok but not super sharp or anything. What to do, what to do... I remembered someone on here a few months back who spotted a frog (on their car?) and grabbed a torch for lighting before shooting. I remember the shots turned out pretty neat, so I went inside, grabbed my uber bright LED torch and went back out again.
whoops, lighting a bit too dramatic!
Ah there we go. Short of getting an assistant or mounting the light to my head that's about the best I can do. I'm quite pleased with the detail you can see in its eye though.

thanks normhead :) it was a pretty plucky thing. only ran off when i was a bit too forceful about pulling some grass out of the ground because it was blocking my view as i tried to take another piccy from another angle.

Lovely shot photolady! Love the detail on the feathers!!!
gosh... guess they'll do anything to have a feed eh? Looks blustery and cold. I certainly wouldn't be caught outside in that weather for a few seeds...

And for something a little different that I'm sure all the birds on this thread will love...
What looks suspiciously to me like a bug orgy. *shudder*

That last one's my favourite ramsbuckeye! Great story of how you got the shots! I need to go out bird shooting again. Now that I'm back at work there isn't enough time in the mornings to go stalking birdies, and in the evenings I'm not having half as much luck capturing them.

Thanks gredline :)
It's a sunny day and it was basking in the sunshine (so hot in fact I scared a snake.. eeeps. still recovering from that scare). So I got lucky re the lizard. I nearly stepped on one yesterday and it scampered off. They're so camoflauged (sp?) it's easy to miss them altogether. I didn't see this one till the last minute and then quickly backed away. I was lucky that I had a long zoom so I didn't have to get too near it to take the pic. Say about a metre or so. He just sat still the whole time watching me. Had some other ones do the same, but didn't get the focus as good so didn't bother including here :)

we have tons of these little lizards at our place. no idea what they're called.
k100d, tamron 60-300 23a, f3.8. Possibly at 180mm and 300mm respectively (can't remember, was too busy trying to frame the shot and take it before he moved to actually look at what FL I was taking it at ). Taken handheld with a rubber hood.

Thanks photolady :) Happy to oblige you with more pics. Love having a reason/excuse to post. Your blue heron looks very pretty. I don't get much of a chance to take pics of big birds here. Am just working on the smalls atm.
Here's more of the superb fairy wren, aka blue fairy wren from yesterday on the Tamron adaptall 60-300 23a with the kx
He's a bit shy my blue wren..
Ahh... there we go.

Taking my tamron adaptall 60-300 for a spin. Lots to learn on this one. But very excited by initial results!
Superb Fairy Wren, aka Blue Wren. This is the male.
am thrilled to bits on this one. it was a spray and pray one - hadn't intended to catch him landing. just wanted to catch him, full stop.
and this is the female. girls look a bit dull i comparison :hmm:
but she posed prettily (and patiently) and that's all that matters
