Yeah even though Pentax has come out saying they make "field" cameras, which pretty much makes 'em a "poor-mans Hasselblad" (which isn't a bad thing), that will only work for them for so long in the apsc/FF field.
If they (Ricoh) wants to gain more users/make the current user-base happy, some of the "minimum requirements" they should do is to increase the buffer (~40+), more AF points (~90+), both card slots UHS-II compatible, usb-3, & improved video. For the K-1II replacement, it doesnt have to match Nikon's D850 in every spec, but even if it can get close to it in some areas, I see alot of Pentax users being happy.

To me what they need to improve/update for the K3 & K1 replacement is:
Add Usb 3.1
Bigger buffer (40+)
Both card slots UHS-II compatible
More AF points (80+)
Better AF

Yep. To me Pentax is pretty much the poor mans Hasselblad, which isn't a bad/negative thing.
While Pentax's DSLR's may not be speed demons compared to some of Canon, Nikon, & Sony's offerings the last couple years (e.g. D500), but what they lack in some area's they punch above their weight in others, and even have options built-in camera that you would have to pay extra for (e.g. astrotracer)

We're not the only ones woundering when the next flagship apsc is coming, look at Canon, they released their 7D Mark II in 2014 and I'm sure Canon users are woundering when it'll be updated.

For me, Pentax would make alot of users happy by upping the AF points (66+)/improved AF, increasing buffer (40-ish+), USH-II compatable card slots, adding USB 3.0, and SR for video/general video improvements into the K3 replacement. It would've been awesome if they added all of that into the k1mk2 (even if the buffer maxed at 30 shots), alot of users would've been fine if it weighed a few ounces mor/slightly bigger & waited an extra 6 months or so/paying a bit more ($2100-ish) for it.
