That is within the range of the 06 zoom.
I don't have an FA 43, but have tried a DA 40 XS,
and it's actually shorter on the adapter than the 06.

The (original) Q sensor is merciless.
It has the densest packed pixels your lenses are ever likely to see.
That said, I think you can still get the 90mm Apo-Lanthar in K-mount
for less than USD 600 from Hong Kong.

The 90mm and 180mm Voigtlaender Apo-Lanthars.
If you lay off the coffee,
you can freely use the 90mm hand-held,
and the 180mm can be hand-held if you get some support.

No, it's K-mount, a direct fit to the Pentax adapter.
There's some fringing on the sharp contrasts by the bird's back,
about 2 - 3 px wide, which I didn't correct.
(Like Lowell said, black birds against the sky are a difficult subject!)
The maw (?) on the beak is about 1 - 2 px wide, no sharpening applied.
