Yes. It's fact. But where did I criticized 15-30? :) It's cool and sharp zoom. But big and heavy.

I prefer primes and change it than to use zooms. I've sold my FA20-35/4, by the way. It's light and not big.
To carry 1 kg zoom is not my choice too.

It's Russian Pentax club.
Did you ever see FA20/2.8 or FA 28/2.8, for example? Or Voigtländer Lenses for M-mount?
DFA15-30
Diameter x length 98.5mm x 143.5mm
Weight approx.1040g
1 KG!!!!
You can"t use any common filters with DFA15-30. Do you know it?
For example,
FA20/2.8
70 x 43.5 mm and 255 g
FA31
65 x 69 mm and 345 g
or
FA 28/2.8
65 x 41 mm and 185 g

The users from Penta-club say that it's not easy-to-use during trips and any travel....TWO light wide-angle prime lenses could be better.

I've got a private message with such info from insider. It's PENTAX plans. The plans had been postponed and killed after deal with Ricoh.
Ricoh is a bit better ruler of Pentax than Hoya.

Ricoh's managers at PhotoSalon said that 11-18 is not replacement of 12-24.

Plan of 2010/2011 year. It's fact. Wide-angle lens for APS-C was developed many years ago. As for 11-18 - it's some new variation, as I think.

In 2010/2011, Ricoh killed Pentax's plan to roll out advanced APS-C zooms and more ltd primes, and a retro-styled DSLR. That DA wide-angle zoom that will come only next year now, was planned and done ages ago by Pentax team.

11-18 can't replace 12-24...It's different lenses. Star 2.8 lens vs 12-24/4 without WR and longer focal range.
