Ricoh plans to sell Pentax brand and photo division to any other brand next year. They will keep GR and Theta only. The latest info from insiders. :)

Not only Pentax has crop mode in FF camera....:)
Pay attention, that FF market will be crowded with L-Mount Alliance – Leica, Panasonic and SIGMA soon...
Leica has three new mounts, by the way. TL, SL and S.

Ricoh is in deep stagnation and it's fact. The reference to small-size of company is farfetchedness. Ricoh Corporation is not small, if the owners of company had wish to expand the photo division, Ricoh could be not less successful than Fuji did. They keep Ricoh imaging company alive, but without any progress.
The share of Ricoh (Pentax) on Japanese DSLR market is the smallest (3.1%) for all photo history now.
OK...They will launch new GRIII this year, maybe new 1-2 APS-C camera(s) and 1-2 new lens(es)...
How long will they be afloat with so slow and conservative life? Hard to say....
Even Leica goes beyond their tradition products...

Pentax really needs several FF DFA f4 zooms and several f1.8 (2.0) DFA primes to offer till 2021-2022.

To say honest, this lenses are not really good at K-1. DA *55, DA 50 f1.8 and DA 40 are APS-C lenses. Not bad at f5.6-8 - yes.
There are some APS-C zoom lenses usable at K-1, but IQ is from mediocre till not bad.
DA560....It seems to me Pentax users better choose DFA*400/5.6 with 1 kg weight, only 200 mm length and 77 mm filter for much lower price instead of 3 kg and 520 mm length and 112 mm filter for USD5000...

Remember film time line of lenses? Pentax K-Mount Lenses and Lens Accessories | The K-Mount Page
FA20/2.8, FA*24/2, FA28/2.8, FA28/2.8 soft, FA31/1.8, FA35/2
FA43/1.9, A50/1.2, FA50/1.7, FA50/1.4, FA50/2.8 macro, FA77/1.8, FA*85/1.4, FA85/2.8 soft,
FA100/2.8 macro, FA100/3.5 macro, A*135/1.8, FA135/2.8, FA*200/2.8, FA*200/4 macro, FA*300/2.8, FA*300/4.5, FA*400/5.6, FA*600/4

I think that Pentax users of K-1 want the line of lenses close to old one and ASAP...
I'm not sure that we will see such line of lenses in the nearest years...

Of course...
But to make film photo of black and white lines and make the same with digital sensors are not the same.
Sorry, I don't know English very well to discuss this theme.

Modulation Transfer Function is for film testing, new digital time just uses old term. The modern testing like IMATEST and old MTF testing are different methods, because of different light receiver. You had read the article and understand nothing?:) A practical way of understanding line-pairs is to think of them as pixels on a camera sensor, where a single line-pair corresponds to two pixels (Figure 2). Two camera sensor pixels are needed for each line-pair of resolution: one pixel is dedicated to the red line and the other to the blank space between pixels. Using the aforementioned metaphor, image resolution of the camera can now be specified as equal to twice its pixel size.
It's just rough try of comparison and explanation for modern people. it's metaphor
NO pair of lines in sensors.

Yes...I saw PF"s review of DFA*50/1.4 (and many others) - is it sharp lens? Yes...Is it anything special or interesting? I can hardly say yes...
Special bokeh? As for me, FA50/1.4 has more interesting bokeh...

Yes, it's better optically than FA50/1.4 at K-1, but more expensive, MUCH bigger and heavier...
But how to compare different lenses on different cameras of different brands? You have no any proof. Because it doesn't exist.
We can guess that DFA*50/1.4 is bit better than Sigma Art, because there is You tube's review and comparison. But we don't know if it's true or not. Different samples of lenses could have different quality.
I think DFA*50/1.4 is very good performer. One of the best at the market. But not better than other best lenses.

How can you prove it? I never saw any comparison with N and C.
What about Sony and other brands?
50/1.4 lenses are here... DSLR Lenses, SLR Lenses | Camera Lens | B&H
How do you know that DFA*50/1.4 optically better than all this lenses?
If even Canon and Nikon are not better it's much cheaper. But how can I know it?

DFA*70-200/2.8 has classical real ring-type ultrasonic motor. The speed of lens also depends on camera's hardware and software.
Here is the gap and compromise...More expensive "stuffing" = better speed.
The problem will be to sell such expensive camera from Pentax.
AF-S of Pentax is the same as other brands for a long time already. AF-C needs more power of hardware and better software.

I don't find 16-85, 20-40 and 28-105 are something special...Slow middle class lenses. DFA*70-200/2.8 and DFA*50/1.4 are the same level as the the best lenses of other brands. Classical aperture speed and focal length.
