I couldn't help myself. I was shooting sports also this weekend ( Mt. Snow Freeskiing Open)and just had to try out my Takumar 200 mm with a Vivitar 2x converter. My focusing skills are very rusty for this kind of action but got a couple half decent shots. I think I need to order a Katz Eye to get more keepers.

I didn't realize that cherry blossoms were that big a deal in Japan. I guess its the same with me as I don't get very excited about ice storm and snow pictures but take a few because I feel obligated to.

Out winters are long and harsh and when the first spring flowers pop up its a special moment and I will probably take a picture of it, even if its a crappy little dandelion. My backyard has had snow since november. Its been brown since the leaf peeping season ended here in mid october. So if I had the money to blow right now I would probably be one of those "white guy" tourists.:)

This just reminded me of something a couple of years ago. As my daughter and I were launching our kayaks in Lake Luzerne in early october, a tour bus full of Japanese tourists (or oriental anyhow) all poured out and began shooting pictures of us. I guess our fall foliage season is like your cherry blossom time.

Be thankful. All I have to look at around here is old dirty snow with a winters worth of litter still stuck in it and mud. I did see a robin trying to find a meal in some disgusting looking stuff. With the super Tak 200mm. Looking at this stuff for a month or more and you can understand why people in the Northeast get excited about cherry blossoms.

It was a real nice day today, almost spring. I got my 200 f4 Tak out and aimed for the treetops. This guy managed to slow down long enough for me to get a few shots off.

A real nice 200mm f/4 Super Tak arrived in the mail today. I purchased here in the forum from Nick Siebers. Thanks Nick...its a beauty
These were taken in Saratoga Spa State Park. The famous Saratoga mineral waterf makes some strange looking ice in the winter. The second shot is the empty playground in the picnic area.

I have been following this thread for a while. I have avoided using my manual focus lenses for a few years since an eye injury and now being stuck with glasses (Trifocals). I recently got an adapter from Pentax and decided to try out my old 55 f2 Takumar, mostly after seeing all the great stuff in this thread. I took it out today and took this shot of the old parabolic bridge over the Sacandaga River. I really wanted to get away from the brush in the foreground and further upstream but the bank was solid ice and I wasn't up to swimming so I only got this one. I'm happy with the result and the old lens is now in my bag instead of the storage drawer.
