I just import the images using Lightroom - it detects the phone as a device and allows me to suck them in to the catalog with a click. A couple other ways you can do it:
* Plugin your iPhone to the computer without iTunes running
* Wait for a popup asking you what you want to do with the device
* Select “View Content”
* Find your photos through the folders that are displayed
* Copy in Windows as usual
Or, check this link for some free transfer software (untried) ---> link |

I don't use any third-party camera app right now, just a little tweaking of these jpegs in LR.

Yep, there's no way a phone will hold up to close inspection compared to a DSLR (I would hope :) ) A few of these do look pretty good printed at 8x10, though. Sized for web + printed 4x6, 5x7, or 8x10 us probably 99% of photographic output.
IMO where they really fall down is not IQ in good light, but in bad, and performance.
But absolutely no device is with you more than your phone. I think that makes it the most ubiquitous photographic tool ever invented.

Here are some oldies/goodies from my iphone 3Gs from last summer - camera in that is vastly inferior to 4s, but still helps meet the "f/8 and be there" philosophy:

Very impressive Lighthouse shot.
Thanks, The Pen series with an Eye-Fi is going to be a pretty great combo for that, lucky you :)

The DR is very limiting, not helped by the fact that we only have jpeg. But DR is what the big cameras are for, I guess :)
Nice shots, I especially liked the landscape.

Tanner I remember seeing that in your flickr stream and going. "wow." Doesn't get much better than that for DSLR shooters, much less phone shooters, great, great job there.

I like the color quite a bit - it seems to have a bit of softness, probably due to a very low shutter speed & high ISO (what's the exif?)
I love mine for getting indoor snaps I wouldn't ordinarily have a camera in my hand for, but at 1/15s & ISO 800, it's challenged:
However in better light, it's might be the best 'P&S' I've personally shot.
Here's the detail near MFD:
