I'm lucky in that it seems to be spot-on wide-open with my K2000:
But AF adjustment is probably the one thing I wish the K2000 had, even more than
selectable AF points, etc. I've just become spoiled having that on the K20D,
without it I feel like I'm more at the mercy of the lens quirks with the K2000.

Some 'around the hotel' mundane-but-instructive wide-open shots:
The FA 43ltd is an excellent indoor workhorse in addition to being a knockout

They're all AF. I guess I really don't MF my AF lenses much - the feel of MF-only
lenses like the Taks and M's have spoiled me.
You may have to try some dreaded focus chart shooting - a couple shots at
each aperture in natural and then tungsten light, and see if you notice any
BF/FF trends.

The 43ltd seems to be the ultimate "back seat FOV shooter" - shooting into the back
seat from the front (um, passenger seat, of course)

Well put, Kelly.
Jer, for me, with lenses, acquiring is actually just as fun as owning. And selling
to buy alleviates any guilt. So, win-win. Or something. My logic is fragile, but
it works for me.

I should put together a compilation of 'stick' shots and make a print for my
Dad, he loves stories like that...
Specular highlights wide open:
Even sticks still on the trees are good:
Or with leaves, still OK (Tammy 70-200)
Getting serious about the stick:

Glad you noticed that, I could post literally dozens more. Whoever chose the
'stick' as one of the top toys really knew kids. :)

Well, I got mine 3 days ago and I haven't taken it off yet. It's just got a
great FL for me.
I do a lot of my IQ tests in close-focus, but just general everyday shooting
at 43mm is just nearly perfect for what I usually shoot.
My DA 35ltd is like that also, but the extra speed and reach of the 43
comes in handy, and the lenses do not functionally overlap, I'm finding.
Both lenses are so light that handheld shots are always super sharp. Keeper
ratio is very high, and rendering/IQ is just thrilling.

There was pretty good amount of natural light coming in from skylights.
I used AWB.
Yeah, it looks great for ISO 800, but especially sharp for f/2, I think. Nice lens.
Here are some shots of the gym:

Congrats, TKH!!
I just got one myself yesterday. I think I may actually like it better than the 31ltd,
if that's possible - my 31 was just incredible, but that FL wasn't wide or long enough
for me - the 43 just seems to be a perfect FL, for some reason, and it's blisteringly
sharp with great colors.

Same here. Corner performance is only important to me when I'm shooting
architecture, and then mostly I use my M 20 f/4, which kills in the corners.

Yeah, these images have that 'pro' feel to them that 31ltd and FA 85 images
seem to - good job, all.
prodigital2000 (O Canada) has one on it's way to me. I ordered it right before
I had my little lake mishap, so it's outside of budget now, but I hope to talk myself
into hanging on to it.

Have an opportunity to pick up a 43ltd for a good price - can anyone who has
one post a few of their favorite shots with it and maybe talk about why they
like/dislike it? I've owned the DA 40ltd, and it was excellent, but I sold it
because I liked using my 50's more or the speed/DOF - the 43ltd might be
the best compromise.
(May need to sell some more stuff if the images call to me. Anyone want a
recently lake-dunked Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 once the fog clears from the elements?
:) )

I like the DA 40 for a couple reasons, one of which is that if focuses
quickly and allows you to capture moving/bobbing objects:
Also, it's sharpness kinda gets overlooked, but this is an extremely sharp lens.
I often print things at 8x10 and more, and one of the sharpest prints I've made if not
the sharpest has come from this lens. The image below, when printed large, is
stunningly sharp:
That being said, I think I've seen more 'wow' shots online from the 43 than the
40.
But you can get the 40 for ~$200 used, so it's one of those lenses you can talk
yourself into easily. :)

DA 40 is a great little lens - super sharp, and it focuses very fast, so you can catch bobbin' & weavin' little babies: |

The FA 50 1.4 may be plastic, but it's actually a well construced, heavy, tight lens. It's nothing like the Nikon fast 50, which feels like it came out of a cereal box.
As much as I like the DA 40ltd, my suggestion would be to start with the FA 50 1.4. So much good photography happens between 1.4 and 2.8, you don't want to miss that.
