Hin, nice images!!

I also bought the same hood for his lens after Hin's original recommendation. Works great, all-metal, nice simple, classic look.

Mike, SUPERB!

Now that everyone's getting their trees up again, let's see some Cosina light magic folks!

(Mike & the original master, Duh-Vinci, are still the reigning xmas-light bokeh kings unless someone unseats them.) :)

That's silly - a lot of different lenses have asymmetrical blades, it's not unusual at all.

That's where I bought mine.

Here's a shot from early Spring - wide-open, this lens can make people look
almost ghostlike:

And here's an attempt to catch the little guy at f/1.2:

f/2.0 is easier (cropped a bit) :)

Once you get the lens, you'll really appreciate how hard that shot by daddyluna was -
I've been trying to shoot portraits at about that distance at f/1.2 for a while with this
(and my previous) Cosina, and it's just really tough.

And thanks for the compliment on my shot, that happens to be one of my favorites
(of my shots) with this lens. There are many other from other folks I like more, though,
like Mike's bee shot above - remarkable.

You may want to try some extension tubes, or the Raynox close-up lenses are
supposed to be very good.

Here are some everyday things rendered with a little otherworldly Cosina-fied magic: :)

A better (to me) composition of the Crocus:

Having sold my copy to MikeSF, and then having him post drool-worthy images
from it again and again in this thread, I casually put in a low bid for one again...
and won. So, I'm back in the club. This always happens. It's not LBA until you
start buying lenses twice, I say.

Anyway, can't wait until we start to get some foliage around here. So far, we
have one crocus plant popping up, and some onions.

So here's a truck:

Some balls:

And said crocus:

Javier, are you a mechanic or mechanical engineer?

Also, always like seeing shots of your boy, he has an easy/fun way about him. :)

Hin, one of those shots should go in the pentaxforums third-party database! I
left a review for this lens under the Porst variant, but maybe we could have
a separate review just for the Cosina if it's different enough.

Couple from an art museum walkabout, all wide open & ISO 400 or 800:

I think in the famous Normal Lens Shootout, the A 50 1.2 came out on top :)

I've never used any 1.2 50mm besides the Cosina 55, but I absolutely love it.

Check out This Thread for some shots from the Cosina.

I have is too large to do anything with lenses...

and 2... or does it??

Javier, love the shot of your son by the river, very sharp, but I can't tell what
lens he has on that camera. :)

Few more snapshots from the Cosina, all wide-open unless otherwise noted.

The f/1.2 + SR allows handheld ISO 200 shots in the dark!

This bird is at f/1.2, the second is stopped down one:

This is wide open, the next is stopped down one - I'm really impressed with
the sharpness one stop down:

Yeah, and I don't know, but the PF actually adds to the whacked-out nature
of that shot for me. Shooting into branches in front of a light source at f/1.2
is always going to be PF-city - best to embrace the PF and let it be part of the
image. It's supposed to be there. :)

Duh-vinci, Love those mouse shots, and really love that bokeh.

Interesting that the ball-highlights are all just 'smaller' in the 1.4 light shots. :)

Was up north at a lodge overnight, brought along the Cosina. All of these
are wide-open (f/1.2)

Relax, it's just this guy: :)

This is an interesting shot - shot up a tree into a bright overcast sky wide open -
this is a crop of the focus plane:

Just received mine in the mail a couple hours ago. I really doubted I'd get it
this fast - ebay seller swapped two numbers in my zip, and the postal clerk where
he was (Korea) couldn't find that zip so he looked up the name of my street as a
town, and took that zip (!) Anyway, the name of the city and street were correct
and the USPS came through without delay. Seller was very sorry and kept in
touch almost every day, good guy.

Very nice lens (new old-stock? This thing is unused.) It was packed in a lot of
bubble wrap, but the box left something to be desired :)

Anyway, just had the time for a few shots so far, my impressions:

As everyone has said, It's very hard to nail focus at f/1.2 - noticeably harder
than 1.4, which is hard enough. The focus ring action is a little bit 'grainy',
kinda like on a DA lens - nothing like the smooth silkiness of a Tak or even
an M/K.

Those are the negatives. Everything else is pretty much positive - I took a shot
in very dim light at ISO 100, for pete's sake. The bokeh can go into crazy-town
at f/1.2 under the right circumstances, which I love to play with. Stopped down
a couple, it's extremely sharp.

Here are some shots, all wide open... Sorry if you've seen these test subjects
before, not very target-rich environment here at the moment:

Bokeh craziness, and oval-ish highlights:

Here's an attempt at duh-vinci's killer xmas lights shot - got similar effects,
but this doesn't come close from an artistic standpoint to that shot:

Then that's it. Really. Calling LBA moratorium right now through 2009. Wish me luck.
