What size filters (diameter) did you use and where did you attach the filters, to the T adapter or the scope focuser. I have the K5 which I don't use to often, and a K01. I see they also convert the k01, I wonder how that would be for astro photography with my 127mm scope. Thanks for the info about Kolari Vision. How long did the conversion take?

Focusing on a point of light in the sky can be very difficult,.maintaining that focus is even more frustrating.especially if your are focusing through a telescope. Don't always blame the camera, many amateur telescopes have very poor focusing devices. and require upgrades that costing several hundred dollars (moonlight, and feathertouch focusers are an example), The scope itself might not come to focus and of course you have atmospheric conditions that are constantly changing making small adjustments in focus always necessary and as temperature changes focus also changes.. You are correct Pentax should be able to make it easier with software to live view on a computer monitor in bulb mode and allow you to make and see your focus adjustments results. I bought a used 14" LED monitor from Shopgoodwill,com for $20 Dollars. Make sure it has an HDMI connector.
Connecting it to my camera (K5-K3 or KS2). with an HDMI cable, that makes it easy to monitor and adjust what I am imaging. The Ks-2 makes a very good astro DSLR. The pentax software works fairly well (to many restrictions) with the KS_2.
Whichever camera you use there are many variables that should also be considered if you want achieve sharp astro- pictures. That what makes the hobby so very interesting and satisfying

Starburst alias star spikes occurs when taking photos through reflector style scope due to the spider legs that hold the secondary mirror and are not useful for accurate Astros photos. They are added only for the eye of the beholder. I do not like seeing them in quality pictures because the spikes hide other information. The spikes also appear when taking photos with various lenses. Although not a defect the affect is not usually sought after.

Seti: nice capture. I read there was a supernova in M82 but didn't have a chance to look . Brighter than I thought. Thanks for posting so soon. Good luck on your next try

Here is shot with a Phillips web camera through my Celestron 9 1/4 GPS. I have used the k5 and K01 on planets but a cheap good quality web camera does the best job on planets. Registax 5.0 works better than version 6 on large stacks. A stable air night is very important for any camera shot of planets

Took this m31 last night. This has been the worst summer for Astrophotography with all the smoke in this area from all the forest fires and high thin clouds.
Last night the clouds came two hours after setting up. The photo is with my stellarvue 102ed telescope on my cgem mount, camera k5 24 shots at 30 seconds iso 3200
stacked with deepsky stacker cleaned up a little in photoshop. The high thin clouds sneaked in and did not notice for the next 20 shots

I bought a used flat screen monitor with an hdmi port for $30 dollars. Attached it to my K-5 and wow what a great tool for astro photography. In live view you have the ability to fine focus and center easily and then see your results in high definition. I have been using the old M 28 2.8 and m50 1.4. I picked up a vivitar series 1 210mm 3.5 and the focus is amazingly sharp. Here is m27 using a vivitar series 1 210mm lens
