If you had any idea how many tourists I've been laughing in silence at when waiting for the elevator at the platform level...
Yeah, I was living up in "the village" (as we called it) for 7+ years, it's a nice hood, but it's been changing a lot the last 10-15 years, lots of nice little cafés and bars and other waterholes that have had to give in for fancy clothes stores and touristy "mish-mash" and fancy crap stores as a result of rents going up ridiculously due to the popularity increase, maybe partly after the Amelie movie... (still I do like that movie, it has a really nice message...).

Yup, even in professional mode you can uncheck the "Thumbnail" checkbox and select your own scanner crops from the negative strips (at least in this is possible in the Mac OS X verison of the Epson Scanner Software).
