Just had to look at my Cosina- I swear the focus ring appears to be metal. Nice 180-degree throw on it, very smooth. Any of these variants are well worth the money. Any complaints that these are "soft" wide open probably have to do more with not being properly in focus, due to the extremely shallow depth of field. (The Porst is a different matter!) Having a split-prism focus screen in my K20D (and properly shimmed), really helped nail focus. Now I've just gotten a new K5ii, and with either camera, "catch-in-focus" is a very useful feature. I need to play around with it more, but so far the stock focus screen on the K5 seems to be pretty accurate, and the "keeper rate" using catch-in-focus isn't too bad.
Responding to an earlier post about the Cosina being stuck wide open: The same thing happened to mine, and I did send it to Eric for repair. You can find him at: Home
I just got it back a couple days ago, now it works properly again, and the repair cost was very fair! :D

I had the "fever" when I got my Cosina and bought it sight unseen, the seller said it was "mint". Well it was, except it was starting to get oil on the blades too. I sent it to Eric for C/L/A- he told me he only usually works on actual Pentax lenses, but he did a fine job. Not sure how much it would cost you to ship to the states though.
