Yes I was. I have pretty steady hands so I almost always shoot handheld. I only lose about 1 in a hundred to registration problems, so it's not worth it to me to carry a tripod normally. If it's a really good shot I'll just shoot it twice to make sure. A 64gb card is a lot easier to carry than a tripod :). That said, if I had known I was going to try a pano that day I definitely would have carried a good tripod.

Beautiful shot.
Since HDR requires perfect registration I'm afraid if I made a pano of each exposure and then combined them that they wouldn't line up correctly. But I have the raw files, so I guess it wouldn't hurt to try!

Mojave Desert near Kelso Dunes, California.
First attempt at an HDR pano. The exposures didn't stitch together too great. I need more practice at getting them processed the same. Anyway, 12 exposures to make 4 images stitched together in Photoshop 5.0. HDR tone mapping done in Oloneo.
