Ah, I get it, 2 perfectly overlapping stars when even number of blades, but the stars are offset in clock position when uneven number so they appear to have double the number. I would assume one star is actually flipped upside down on top of the other by the different lenses (like the image) rather than rotated though.

So I'm totally curious about that night shot mde1970 normally the rays of light from a light source represent the number of blades in the aperture, what the heck has a 14 blade aperture? (assuming I counted right) That thing must look like a jet turbine when stopped down.

Found this in a local catholic cemetery with no gates or fences, I guess that's public enough. I happened to see the shot driving by with the thinner blueish clouds on the horizon behind it for contrast, and the whiter divine-ish light from the thicker clouds above. With the exposure the tombstones and trees turned almost into silhouettes and it got a sorta Gothic look, not really sure why that statue stood out so well, I was sure it was going to be a whitewash. I can't claim any extreme skill though since I left it on auto for this one and just lined up the shot. I did do a nice job of slipping in the slushy ditch and falling on my ass, rather than walking around to get into the place though. |
