Just picked up a SMC 105/2.8 and SMC 50/4 Macro. Both in superb condition with cases (105 case is a little rough/ macro case is perfect) and both caps. Paid $75 for both. Can't wait for the rain to stop so I can head outside and give them a spin.

Just playing with a couple of new toys. All shot using my 50mm F1.4 Super-Tak and a set of 3 macro-rings I picked up off Craigslist for $25. Shots are at F16 at 1 sec. ISO 200. Cheap Chinese focusing rails used. Minimal post processing in PS CR, minimal crop. Lighting is two small clip-on LED's from IKEA at about $12 each. Macro on the cheap!!!

Just picked up the following for $100:

Super-Tak 50 1.4
Super-Tak 28 3.5 w/hood and original cases for lens and hood (49mm version)
Auto-Sears Sekor SX 55 1.4 (currently modifying)
Super-Tak 200 4 w/hood

2 flash units of uncertain quality or usefulness (Vivitar & Quantary)
Velbon flash bracket
Vivitar Auto 2X Custom Tele-Converter (has a unique silver F-stop dial that does the math for you) w/ original case
Various original lens caps, filters, cables, straps & cleaning accessories

Came with a Spotmatic and 1000 MXB TLS body.

All in very nice condition.

Now just need a 85 or 105 to fill out the kit.

Saw this list on Craigslist. Can't vouch for the seller.

Pentax Takumar M-42 Screwmount lenses. All in excellent condition cosmetically, optically, & mechanically...... lenses have always been very well cared for & cased. Declining eyesight necessitates a move to autfocusing lenses.
1 - 85mm 1.9 Super-Multi-Coated Takumar (rare transitional model of this extremely coveted lens..... most S-M-C versions are 1.8, the 1.9 formulation being preferred by most for it's "Pixie Dust")..... $350
2 - 135mm 2.5 Super-Multi-Coated Takumar (rare very last formulation change shortly before the same formulation was transferred over to their bayonet line, at which time this lens attained legendary status)..... $250
3 - 100mm Super-Multi-Coated Macro Takumar (rare - only manufactured for one year before Pentax transitioned to Bayonet Mount)..... $200
4 - 50mm Super-Multi-Coated Macro Takumar..... $125
5 - 135mm Preset Tele-Takumar..... $100
6 - 24mm Super Takumar (lettering on ring surrounding front element is smeared..... only minor cosmetics, doesn't affect the lens in any way)..... $100
7 - Pentax manual extension tubes w/case..... $50
8 - 55mm Super-Takumar..... $50

All with front/rear caps.

FIXED IT :D

Turns out my issue was that one of the three tiny screws holding the focusing ring had come completely out. It was getting jammed and preventing it from turning all the way to infinity.

The difficulty of getting the outer ring off was solved by cutting a 2" lavatory pop-up drain gasket ($1.98 at Loews) down about 1/16" to fit inside the outer barrel. I then used a piece of inner-tube for grip and a spool of tape that was about 1/4" less than 2" (49mm = 1.92"). Once it was off and I was starting on the procedure to adjust focus, is when I noticed that one of the screws was missing. I corralled it and used a tiny flat-head screw driver to seat it and tighten it. All is good now!!!

But...all that agony over what to use to get the focus barrel off was unnecessary. If you turn the lens to minimum focus the barrel elongates out of the lens body. It's a simple matter to grip the outside of that barrel - NOT the inside where the lettering is - and unscrew it. I can take pictures if anyone is interested.

Thanks for all the suggestions. That's why we're a club.

@kcobain1992: if you were me you'd know that 1) I'm using a genuine pentax adapter ring, and 2) it won't focus to infinity even off the camera with no adapter attached.

Anyone have other ideas?

Anyone know where I might find the "basin cap" discussed in this tutorial? Or, does anyone know how to remove the outer ring (with the lettering) from a TAK 55 using some other method? Thanks?

Even without infinity focus it's still a nice lens:

Love my 55/1.8 for close and medium range shots but it will not focus all the way to infinity - stops between the last measure and the infinity mark. I'm using a Pentax adapter on a 10D. Any easy way to fix?

Note: I tried the forum search function but did not see a solution posted that did not involve disassembly - which I'd rather not attempt. (I wouldn't know what to do with the parts left over afterwards). Sorry if I missed one.

New here, if you're talking about mglowe, then I send a special wish as he was helping me solve my exposure dilemma.

Bottom line is I had the auto-bracketing on and so the first shot was supposed to be under-exposed. :o

Here's one from today:

Just picked up an auto-takumar 55 1.8 and need to get an adapter for my K10. Is it worth the extra $ to buy a Pentax branded one? Any to avoid? This is my only M42 lens so it will pretty much stay attached to it.

Great images - I hope to contribute in the near future.
