I won't do that, but I reckon the last three letters of the month will be "...ber" :D

I just had a look at that page, and I strongly disagree with your assessment. The subject matter is interesting (as cosplay people usually are), but the images are very soft, low in contrast and beset by severe purple fringing. There is nothing there that I prefer over my early, amateurish attempts with my FA*85.

Thanks mate. I am quite excited.
And I totally agree about the FA limiteds. They are amazing, and I will never part with them, both for their (perhaps indefinable) image qualities and their place in Pentax folklore. But they have had their time. A refresh would achieve little, and would almost be a sacrilege.

Big lenses have a place, as long as their image quality is a significant jump on their predecessors.
I just got a FA*85, and my first few shots with it have convinced me that it is indeed very special compared to my highly esteemed FA77.
But I'm not getting rid of the FA77. Ever. It may become more of a crop lens to me - perfect for head shots at roughly 115/2.4 full frame equivalent.
Will I consider the DFA*85? Maybe, but it will have to be *amazing*.

I vote for a DFA*70-200 beer stein. Just the right size for Oktoberfest.

It may shock you, but I am aware of that. Choose your compromise; they're all good in PentaxLand :D

^What Rondec said.
These lenses have to be AWESOME. We waited a long time for the K-1 and DFA*70-200, and most would agree it was worth it.

YES!!!!
Every lens is a compromise. The new lenses are compromising on compactness to be uncompromising on wide open, wall-to-wall sharpness. The older lenses made different compromises for different objectives. I can respect them all.
We can't have too much choice.

The roadmap is not a contract.
Nothing we say here will change what Pentax releases, or when.
Relax. Be happy with what you have for now. Wait.

They are all very good. The DFA15-30 is actually sharper at the edges and more rectilinear at 24mm than the FA*24, and has less lateral CA. It really is very impressive (but big and heavy).
The DFA24-70 at 24mm has more barrel distortion than the FA*24, but like is wider brother it out-performs the FA*24 for sharpness and CA.
The FA20 is a wonderful lens. So tiny! The six point starbursts are really neat.
This thread is about the DFA*85, so I won't clutter it with more off-topic images. Have a look in my Flickr photostream for examples - I'm using the FA*24 as my "Single In Challenge" lens this month, and have made a few comparative shots with the modern zooms for interest's sake.

On topic: I'm freakin' STOKED about the prospect of a new 85/1.4
Can't. Wait. But remember this is just point on a roadmap, so don't hold your collective breaths :)
Off topic:
Yeah. It's rubbish on the K-1.
It's a bit rich to judge a lens' performance on full frame when you only have old crop cameras.
