Nice shot, Bluestringer. What an ockward shaped eye, is this natural or a disformation of some kind?

If this is a tryout, I cannot imagine how good the results will be once you get familiar with this combo

They look like some kind of small flower wasp, they sure have the build of a wasp. Tiphiidae - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I`ve been neglecting my tamron 90mm lately but when this guy landed next to me I could no longer resist. By the time I got back from the house it moved to a spot in a tree, more than 2 meters up.
I managed to take some shots on my toes, standing on a gardenchair :)

Allright, you might try it with a small piece of wood (something like a broomstick) and a hammer for the pressfitted one(s). Cut, shave of file it to the diameter of the glass and hit it. Just make sure you hit it from the right side, one side probaby has a broader diameter so hit it from behind.

Oke...the one I just gutted was a also a Vivitar (vivitar MC teleconverter 2x-22), but this was treathed and came out in one piece

In that case you can try it with an (hand)press wich is available for me at work. Maybe someone you know has one or works as a mechanic?

After reading this I went to my shed with an old converter and gave it a try. I clamped the converter in a vice (with some rags to prevent damage on the outside) and used a smal (electrical for example) screwdriver in one of the slots and gently tapped it with a light hammer. Since I don`t use it with the glass damage was not an issue.

All in all 1 minute`s work :)

You shouldn`t. Good and/or expensive stuff only makes things a little more easier but in the end it is allways the eye of the shooter that makes or breaks a picture. ;)

And while I`m here I might contribute as well:

I did some practising again yesterday with the A50 F1.7 reversed on the tamron 90mm:

You could use it on your DA 18-55 II or your sears 135 (wich would make a magnification of 2.7:1)
That ring costed about €8,- so it`s a lot of fun for little money :)

Thanks :)

Sort of but different. It`s a male-male threaded ring (in this case 49-55mm) to reverse a lens onto another lens.
A reverse ring has male thread on one side and K-mount on the other so you kan directly reverse a lens on your camera.

This was made with just a reversed smc-a 50mm F1.7 on a DA 18-55 wr.

Got my new couplerring in the mail last week, tried it today with the tamron 90mm and the A50mm F1.7.
It needs some practise because the focuspoint is very close but I managed to get this:

Maybe not but it`s owner does have a good eye ;)
Lightfall and colors are very good. If you crop (left and above) some parts out, this has good potential.

Actually I was quite surprised to get such good quality, especially with a cheap zoom like the DA 18-55WR (don`t get me wrong here, it is a good lens)
So I just ordered another to put the A50 on the tamron 90mm :)

Aliasant, I love that hooverfly. Great colors!
They allways make a beautiful subject, if it`s not too hot they are quite slow and gracious and you can approch them quite easily if you move slow.

Here `s one more:
