Hi guys, how are you all doing? Lots of great images and news (only went back 10 pages but Travis` departure is quite a shock)

It has been a while since I`ve last posted here due to moving to a new house. Also my K5 died after my wife dropped it from the couch.
A few weeks ago I allready picked up a K-3 but somehow it took me until last week to go out and shoot some birds.

The tracking and focussing have indeed great improvements over the K-5 and the 24Mp AA-filterless images are a pleasure to work with (allthough quite large).
Most of the work is done and the smoke is finally settling down so I expect some more spare time for shooting from now on.

Nice shot, Schj. There is a bunch of them here too but they live in a pretty unaccesseble spot, also along a small river.

Thanks, Travis. Your hummers are a pleasure to the eye, great work as usual.

Thank you, Derek.
Your red-winged Blackbirds are also beauties.

Thanks, Cold Iron :)

Thank you too, Greg and no thanks. Allways enjoying your images, they are worth the likes.

Great work as usual, guys. Sorry for being a little absent, things are a little hectic atm.

Finally sorted and developed the Black Tern-session of last weekend, I went back sunday and took a fellow pentaxian with me. He was really kind and let me test his K-3.
The last 2 are with the borrowed K-3 and I have to admit...24MP and 8fps is nice to have :)

Did some recon today and found an interesting site with black Terns. The light was kinda harsh but I`m gonna give it another try early tomorrow morning.
But I managed to capture this (with is a very difficult test for the K5 with siggy 100-300 F4 and TC, these birds are fast):

Pff, some terribly awesome shots on the last few pages. I`ve been enjoying them all, great work guys!

Got some first timers (for me that is) this week on a boattrip in a national park (wetland area) close to my house:

Thanks, Travis. Yeah, that wa smy impression too. Most kids got a little cautious after a few hard (and wet) turns.

I would consider myself very fortunate if I could call those species "Nothing special"... Born in the wrong part of the globe, I guess :)

Thank you too, Weevil. It was actually a relief to use the sigma without TC again. AF is definitely a lot more snappy and decisive.
Impressive shots, your IQ is inducing a little feeling of LBA. :)

Very nice, Ken. Great detail and beautiful pose and background.

Looks like you had a good morning, Derek. Allthough you scared the s..t out of that last duck in your first post :)

Yeah, just listened to a few audiofiles and they have a very distinct call indeed. And allthough it`s a very colorfull bird it`s hard to spot up in the trees, the white speckels make a perfect camouflage (just as the busy bokeh)

Beautiful shot, Andrew. That Darter? is a nice bonus.
ChatMechant: I`ve tried that once, I know how hard it is to get these guys. Nicely done!

Thanks Swip, I`m quite content myself :)

Thanks for the compliment and the like, Gary. Some beautifull work form yourself there too.

And offcourse thanks Travis, Norm, crewl1, fotogaffer and Frogfish for the likes :)

iitoo: amazing bird and great capture. I only learned about Barbets untill last year in South-Africa.
They are quite unmistakeble, aren`t they?

Here`s the (not so good) image of the only one I captured, a Crested Barbet (Trachyphonus vaillantii):

Truely amazing work on these last pages, excellent work everybody!

I`ve been busy lately (am I not allways, lol?) but I managed to get out a couple of times. I`ve found a couple of great crested grebes nesting near a marina, the nice thing was they were used to human activity and I had acces to a little canoeing jetty. They are still breeding but I presume that will be finished soon.

Here`s mommy turning the eggs:
No movement yet?

And here`s daddy (or visa versa, can`t tell the difference) hunting right in front and real close to me:

Nice shots! By the sound of it, it seems real close to a road, correct?

I might as well post my humble shot of the day cause I`m waiting for Travis to drop his bombshell...

It`s a Great crested Grebe (click), one of my favorite aquatic birds.

Nice vulture-shots, Travis and Greyser

Oke, just checking :)
This sounds indeed as a serious case of front focus. Hope this will get solved soon.

Thank you too, Freespirit :)
Did you test on a chart allready? Because I wouldn`t rely on your posted shot because that in that particulair example could be very well a case of missfocussing as the box is very close and in front of the bird.

Nice captures, Derek.

Why, don`t you know your DA*300 is WR (actually AW)? ;)

Ah, didn`t see that one...teleparadise indeed! Too bad I just spend my entire savings on the new house :(

Thanks, Don :)
Now you shots (superb, I might add) are the first fieldsamples I see of the new TC, and from what I can see the IQ is really great. How does the IQ hold up when pixelpeeping?

Stunning images!

Drool...I think you mean the 300 F2.8 and the 600mm F4?

Hi guys, how are you all doing?
Man, I`ve been so busy (bought a house and got married) but since a week or 2 I`ve been sneaking outdoor to shoot spring :D
Got some catching up to do with you guys but here are some of the last 1,5 week.

The godwits have returned:

You got me confused, I allways thought that PPI/DPI is a value only used for printing images?

Great set, Norm. The 3th one (Cardinal, I believe?) is stunning.

What do you think about the CA/PF of the A-400 and the K3? I remember when the K5 came out people were complaining that some lenses all of a sudden produced colorshifts whereas there was none before. I believe this had to do something with the increased resolution, do you experienced something like that?

My sigma 100-300 F4 with sigma EX DG 1.4x TC does a pretty decent job but it`s allready a stellar lens with matching TC. This combo is probably one of the exceptions.
