It has been a while since I posted a picture in this thread... I have had some fun with my macro takumar 50mm preset yesterday. After some time of not using this lens because it had had some problems with loosening screws (I get unsure about lenses falling apart in the field :o) I already fixed the problem a long time ago with some soft locktide but the fun was gone, yesterday I found the fun about this lens again :D it has star allure!

So, at this point no one will mind if I post a hdr photograph I have taken in the takumar club (the 5 exposures used were all made by K5 and takumar 24mm f3.5)

Thanks! I bought only one of the adapters just for the adapter and the others came as "extra's" in sets of lenses I bought, so I guess it's the perfect excuse to find and buy some more sets of, for example, takumar lenses! :D

I have not yet heard of this... just that the tiny screw sometimes gets loose a bit. I have seen though some wear on the metal that turns in the mount, but still working fine. Also have thought about what is exactly the difference between those magnificent original ones and the horrific ones that stay stuck in your camera and can give you a heart attack. I don't know, it seems the metal spring is less flexible than the original and there is slightly less space to turn (having trouble explaining myself) in between the mount.

I invented a new word today..."Spectakumar!" I couldn't find the word/spelling of "spectacular" at that time :D I was mushrooming  forgive me if I sound a bit wacky to much time spend alone with camera and lenses... maybe the picture says more :

Winter is coming... I don't like it :p sitting inside fixing my new computer and I'm supposed to clean/vacuum etc. instead listening to old vinyl records and those records spread around the house as do my lenses and pentax attributes at the moment.. kind off the opposite of cleaning but much more enjoyable
Resulting in a comparison shot of the two different pentax m42 to k mount adapters I own, taken with the super takumar 24mm\3.5 @f5.6...

Thank you, Iīm humbled by this compliment for one of the first shots with the lens...

I have made a recent addition to my takumar collection, a pretty beaten up copy of auto takumar 85mm f1.8. (hey, but for around 50 years old I donīt care about beaten up look plus its condition made it payable for me to have a 85/1.8 Iīve wanted one for a long time but most go for 200 euroīs plus)

Some of the first sample shots I took. I should practice some more in harsh conditions but these are acceptable, all shot with wide open aperture:

Well, it isnīt as high as the smc takumar 15mm... : check this on ebay Germany

But higher than I expected.. I got mine as a gift.. I feel even more blessed now... And I still wonder about the prices on ebay, I guess if you can find the lens anywhere else it will be a lot cheaper..

235 for the 24 mm??? wow, I did not expect that kind of pricing.. is it SMC or super and does the difference really matter?
I suggest waiting for some better deal to come along...

Or, it might be the PR - commercial people who want to sell us the best of the new - for the biggest price and with not the sturdy feel our old lenses have:confused:

I tested out the super tak 24/3.5 yesterday... in between rainclouds I biked out of the concrete jungle to see how infinity focus was doing.. wanted to try out some bracketing shots but after 2 shots battery was dead and I found out that I forgot my reserve... Luckely most takumar shots are right within 2 goīs !

and one rather uninspired shot taken in the garden later, it shows close focus capabilities :

another great lens added to my collection! it even came with hood and special pouch for the hood..

When I got my preset macro tak it had some loose screws and thus a wobbly aperture ring, somewhere on the pentax forums I found a nice "how to" and it helped fix the problem. I now wonder if the guy giving the info might had one of those maintenance manuals.. I will check around more if I can come across more information about this manual. Thanks,

Well, I guess posting in the lens club is pretty social and of course questions can be asked in between shots about anything takumarish.. but questions and answers go a bit lost in the 600 somewhat pages :o I was thinking about a group in the order of macro social group
But I will try harder to find and refind posts I realize adding a true social group takumar might even make it yet another spot to look.
(this whole forum seems way big and heeps of info.. looking like how I imagine the inside of my brain looks like and I never seem to find anything in there as well but then the info pops up when you donīt expect nor need it and you get distracted and oh, did I already tell you it was shitty weather here outside and now Iīm stuck inside feeling bored and thus started to bore others ;))

Hey, I was searching for a social group "takumar" but there isnīt any??

It would be nice to have another spot to check each others takumar pictures and maybe collect information about lenses and for example the infinity adjustments etc.
I just yesterday have been given 3 extra taks! the 24/3.5 super takumar, the 105/2.8 super takumar and the 50/1.4 super takumar later version 7 elements (very nice easterbunny, right?). This super takumar 24/3.5 I canīt seem to find a lot of info about and it might have some infintiy focus problems (will have to try it out outside a little better when the weather clears).

Does anybody own or have experience with the super-tak 24/3.5 ?

regards, margriet

I have the same lens, and I agree with this 100% (after just a couple of months being proud owner of this little gem).. only thing is that I have to creep up to the bugs and buzzers much closer than with my longer macro lenses... but there is something about the clarity and color in the takumars... keeps you hooked!

If I remember correctly yes, it was f4.. I still need some good way of remembering this information as it doesnīt get put in exif and I have the tendency to try out different f numbers. This day I was playing with shallow DOF (which is fun!) so Iīm pretty sure it was f4. Amazing how crisp the sharpness and colors are at f4, without smc, right? I only had some problems when shooting against the sun, but EV negative 1 and itīs fine again.

I have a green version as well, but itīs a bit busy as a picture:
