I disturbed two green butterflies sitting on top of a purple flower. The one on top gave me a look

Was taking photos of those buds when I noticed this guy. Don't know what he is, but seems to be digging in there, maybe feasting on some sap? The shot is not perfectly clear and the focus is a little off, I know. Handheld in a forest.

I really don't like spiders. Or anything that has oddly long legs, and too many of them! I tried to be brave, but my subject was a little too fast for me!
I call it "Hauling ass!"

That is close!
Here is a moth from a couple days ago, but it was really huge, wingspan longer than my palm

Great. The macros sure are stunning, but I prefer to keep my distance :p That bug was a couple centimetres (around 4cm long), much bigger than the usual bees and wasps we get here, but I don't know what species it is. There are too many yellow buzzing, biting bugs

Not a macro, but this guy is pretty big to begin with. Unfortunately, it finished its drink and flew away before I could adjust the composition and focus
Taken with Helios 44-2, probably wide open. No added saturation/vibrance, just lots of contrast

Wow, so many nice photos of insects in this thread! Perfect focus and DoF, vibrant colours, lots of detail, interesting and exotic bugs..! I feel ashamed of all my misfocused, blurry, boring European insects :p
But I would like to cross post this photo of mine:
Lady in winter It has its own thread here. |
