Those were my thoughts, as well! It might work well for video. And recently I traveled with my K-01 and two zooms, which made me want power zoom exactly as Adam said - so I could do everything with one hand, especially since I was staring at the LCD screen and holding the camera away from me. I might not want/need the power zoom on a full DSLR, but on mirrorless it makes sense.
This is why I mentioned that maybe it would be a good idea for specialty cameras. The Q is an interesting idea. I wonder how much bulk this feature would actually add a lens (whether Q or K mount)?

I thought about this recently, and was wondering what the general consensus about this is on the forums. Power zoom only existed for a little while, but would you be interested in it making a comeback?
How about in a specialty camera, like a mirrorless?
I don't use many zoom lenses, but I can see it making sense on a "special" camera (like the K-01).
I want to hear some constructive arguments, and even just general feelings on the topic. I know some (and often I am among this group) want as little automation and electronics An explanation of what Power zoom is can be found here. |
