No. That is the Tamron-F 1.4X Pz-AF MC4 full frame teleconverter. At 450mm there is some vignetting. It lessens as the focal length goes down. I was not trying to do a full review. Just answer a question asked a few pages ago how a teleconverter would work on this lens. The images are actually pretty sharp. Better than I thought they would be.

Steve, You asked how the D FA 150-450 lens performed with a 1.4x teleconverter. I used a Tamron 1.4xteleconverter. Here is the answer for the K1. There is noticeable corner vignetting at 450mm. It does decrease at shorter focal lengths. For APSc format this does not look to be an issue.

Here is an example of what I saw today when I tested it out. First with and then without the teleconverter.

The lens also is really handy in a close up situation too. Only about 7 feet from Trooper.

I did stack an old Vivitar 2x macro and a Tamron1.4x teleconverter on mine once. Back in June 2016 I was in Yellowstone and spotted a grizzly sow and her three cubs. They were well over a mile away, Turned out better than I thought it would. At that point I had a 1260mm f16 lens hanging on my K3. I usually reserve my teleconverters for faster glass. Here are the results.

Thanks Steve. It was pretty cool to see. People were jumping from two planes and they made three passes of 4 jumpers each time. If you zoom in you can see the next jumper at the door getting ready to go.

W7 is one of the few C-47's (DC-3's) still flying that actually flew combat missions during WWII. After the war she was owned by several airlines, passed to private hands and was donated to the museum in 2005. In 2014 it was flown to Europe to participate in ceremonies to mark the 70th anniversary of D-Day. On board as it flew over Normandy was one of the paratroopers who actually jumped from her that day.

This shot shows her on final approach for after the demonstration. One of the great things about the K1 is that you can actually zoom in on the plane and read the designation markings. The planes in the foreground are North American T-6 trainers and 4 variants called the Harvard IIB which were Canadian-produced variants used by the RAF.

I know there's a bug in there somewhere. K1-II. ISO 6400 on a dim, cloudy evening. A male pileated woodpecker that my wife spotted from the kitchen window. Hand held through the window in the back door to my garage. Technically not that great, but a rare visitor to the neighborhood. They usually prefer wooded areas.

I was out in Yellowstone last year and heard a harrowing story from one of the visitors. The mom and dad and their 4 young children were hiking in a part of Grand Teton National Park (just south of Yellowstone) the day before. A deer started following them up the trail. It followed them for several hundred yard which they thought was kind of neat. All of a sudden a grizzly bear cub popped out on the trail about 20 yards in front of them. They beat a guarded retreat down the trail.

In the summers, the bears tend to stay out of the heat during the day. They easily overheat in the summer. When we were there in May, there was still plenty of snow and the bears were coming out of hibernation. They come down low looking for just about anything that is edible. We saw this particular duo several times over in the same general area. The flip side to going early is that not all the park roads were open. The park is beautiful in the snow.

Grizzly and cub from a trip to Yellowstone in May 2017. These two were scavenging a winter kill less that 100 yards (91 meters) off the road. They were in a wide open field yet nobody had spotted them. I was driving with one of my sons and he yelled bears. Once I stopped as set up, it started a real bear jam. That makes me the cause of two bear jams in two years. That was my most successful bear sighting trip to the park ever. We saw five grizzly bears and 4 black bears. Even a few wolves, but they were so far off that it wasn't even worth the effort to set up the camera.

I could not get much out of the shots using PDCU so I let them sit. In November I got Silkypix Developer Studio Pro 8 on sale. I was looking though some old files and happened upon the bear shots. Amazing how a small adjustment to the HDR tool brought out the details in this high contrast situation.

I know my last post vented a bit on this lens. (Post 1202) But as I stated, in close and at shorter focal lengths it is a rock star. This shot was made the same day as my earlier image. Playing with Silkypix Developer Studio Pro 8. Lots to learn over PDCU.
