As pert of eclipse prep, I tried out my new 86mm solar filter on my D FA 150-450 with my K1-II. The more I practice, the more I am sure that the day will be cloudy. :o

As you may have guessed I have been looking through some old photos today. Taken using a Rokinon 35mm F1.4 lens. It is cropped. This is an excellent lens for a lot of purposes.

Stitched image of Grand Prismatic Spring. You can take a trail to get to the backside of the spring where you can look down on it, but it is closed in late spring due to hungry grizzly bears coming out of hibernation. The park service is working hard to lessen their reliance on bipedal protein sticks. :lol:

Hint for visiting Yellowstone. If you want to go the the must see places get there early. Photo 1 is a shot of sons #3 and #4 heading towards the walkway to Grand Prismatic Hot Spring. The steam you see is from the Excelsior Geyser crater. Photo #2 is Grand Prismatic Hot Spring. Photo #3 is a half hour later as we exit the area. these shots were taken in July 2016.

Lots of waterfalls in the Finger Lakes Region too. The top photo is of Montour Falls. It sits at the edge of the village of the same name. Some people have this view in their back yard. The second photo is Hector Falls a few miles north of the village of Watkins Glen. Both easily visible by the road. No Hikes required.

Monday was our 47th Wedding Anniversary. We have been out glamping in our travel trailer in the Finger Lakes Region. Today we went to see a slot canyon. Here they come with running water and greenery. This is Watkins Glen State Park. It gets over 1,000,000 visitors a year, but we got there early (07:30) and beat the crowds.

Actually two but I "Liked" it anyway. :lol: I really like the photos I see here from that lens, but my 28-105 is so good that I cannot justify the 24-70 lens.

Took a ride this afternoon to see some of the fall color. This from the hills south of Rochester, NY. Colors really close to peak.
