I believe the original comment was made in jest. If you look at the K-1 cutaway photo I posted the shell at this point looks only to be 1-2mm thick. Not much material to work with. Beyond this looks like another shell, bracket or PCB. I wouldn't take a bit and cut away any material in that area.

I did some quick and dirty shots, hand held, kit lens, available light (window) so they are not very sharp:
The K-mount adapter appears to me to be thinner than then on the non-auto bellow. And you can see the foot on the standard. You could use a battery grip but only if the rear standard is at the end. You have to position the standard at the back to turn a DSLR to portrait mode regardless.
Here I loosened the set screw and turned the body as far as I could until the corner of the mount base hit the foot. MF cameras have a rounded base without the corner. Work around - remove the camera and adapter from the bellow and reposition. Or add a short extension tube to the body. This is recommended BTW with the screw mount Auto Bellows.
There may be enough clearance up top on the K-1. One could always use a short extension tube between the adapter and the body.

Could you post a photo of the scratch?

Not to mention Sigma said they will be supplying repair kits to resolve the problem. Yes, it means you have to wait for the fix but what else is new even in this so-called high tech society?
It's not like you cannot mount the Sigma lenses at all. And it's not like Ricoh changed things so you could not use any K-mount lens.

And the Nikon D810?
Does Canon/Nikon have a screw drive, Aperture control lever mechanisms and IBIS to cram into the body?
Given the shape and position of the pentaprism there isn't much leeway for a nice flat area.
Don't judge a book by its cover.

And how much bigger are those bodies compared to the K-1?
Or put some black electrical tape over the area that would get scratched?

So the cutout that's on the K-1 isn't sufficient for Sigma lenses? Or is it in the wrong place for Sigma lenses? Perhaps Sigma didn't follow specs? Is that the scratch (above the cutout) on the photo on the right?
At least Sigma is taking responsibility for the fixes and not laying it all on Ricoh.

Thanks. The rear bracket on the auto bellows series is larger and the bayonet adapter is thinner. The rear bracket also has a foot on it. With my K10D there is barely enough clearance for the square base of the lens mount around the foot. To switch for portrait to landscape I have to either turn the entire rig 90° or loosen the retaining screw for the adapter, dismount the adapter (with body) and change the orientation. Unfortunately the only digital camera I have is my K10D so I can't take photos of it mounted on my auto bellows A but I can take photos with my K1000 or Program Plus film bodies. Oh I have a dead ZX-50 too. :)

Has anybody tried mounting any of the Pentax K-mount bellows on the K-1 yet?
So did Ricoh check the clearance on all Pentax F, FA, DA and D FA. Maybe. Maybe they check A, M and K lenses to. Is it Ricoh responsibility to check compatibility with 3rd Party lenses that aren't paying the license for the K-mount? No. It probably isn't even Ricoh's responsibility check compatibility with licensed lenses. Precedent - Asahi-Pentax adding the power zoom contacts to the mount causing some Vivitar lenses with oversized flanges not to fit or fit scratching the contacts or bracket for the contacts. Those lenses were designed and manufactured before the power zoom contacts were added to the K-mount specifications. Is that Pentax fault they aren't forward compatible especially if they were outside the specifications to begin with?
