Interesting seeing the tail of a DC3 and the 50's/60's era fighter/trainer jet Lockheed T-33. Both seem to be Museum pieces

The falling snow maybe hiding the mountain but the effect of the light from the fireworks and the moving cars more than makes up for it

I know all about how cold it can get in the Soo. In the early 90's I was on a ship tied up there over Christmas and it got so cold paint actually started to peel off the steel bulwarks in sheets. Definitely not the place to be without a good pair of gloves!!

Thank you for your comments
For Canada as a Country 2016 & 2017 have been a very emotional years for 100th anniversary commemorations of battles and disasters from WW1. Starting with the wiping out of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment on July 1st 1916 in the Battle of the Somme, the successful taking of Vimy Ridge in April 1917, the successful defeat of the German Army at Passchendaele in October 2017 and finally the Halifax Explosion on December 6th 1917. When a munitions ship exploded after a collision with another vessel in the narrowest point in the harbor wiping out a good part of the city killing over 2000 people and injuring may thousands more. The Halifax Explosion remains to this day the largest explosion ever detonated prior to Nuclear Era
Also in keeping with the subject of this thread here is a picture of the Memorial Bell Tower taken the same day |
