A modern dc 100-300 limited (like the DA 20-40) with ff coverage would be nice, even if it was an f4-5.6 range

It will be interesting to see how the current 3 motor types (DC, PLM, and Ring) are used in future lenses. Agree the PLM is fast, but I’ve had no issues with DC motor speed on the lenses I own. Other than trying a reps copy in store, I do not have any real experience with the Ring motor designs.

At 24mm fl, focused at 5.9 meters (over 19 feet), pretty close to infinity. Even at f2.8 wouldn’t expect much subject isolation, so easier to make sure everything is reasonably in focus.

I was referencing post #883. Agreed, If you need an f2.8 lens for shooting at f2.8, then an f4 will not cut it.

Pentax af in low light is not one of its weaknesses. So, unless the bride is coming at you on a bicycle on a dark street, the focusing difference between f2.8 and f4 should not be an issue.

Not refering to the 2 numbered patents first noted, but rather than the diagram referenced on the xitek site. Go to CanonRumors.com for details.

As much as I can decipher using Bing translator, the first is a 3.8x zoom and the second is a 4.3x zoom so neither appears to be the 70-200 f4. Will be interesting to see what comes of these patents.

Delays in the release of the 60-250 in 2008 were the reason I purchased a 300mm DA*, never regretted that move. Having both the Tamron 70-200 f2.8 and the 55-300 PLM probably not in a hurry for the 70-200 F4 to fill a zoom gap, more interested in the coming primes.

Ideally, it would be an internal zoom, internal focus, lightweight all metal body (like the D-FA 100 macro) then they could apply the Limited name to it (with the associated pixie dust). :)
