I find the A35-105/3.5 a bit big & heavy and it unbalances smaller film bodies*, although I haven't tried mine on a KX. It is probably the best 'does it all' walkabout lens in the M or A series. However, I mostly use an FA20-35 (would like to try an M24-35 but can't justify one having the FA) teamed up with an FA43 and a longer lens. Usually this is an M135/3.5 but I'm trying out a recently acquired M75-150 & M200/4 lenses instead.
Tamron AD2 lenses are later than '75 but they don't look it - I have the SP 70-210/3.5 (19AH) - it's a very good lens but is very long & heavy. If buying an AD2 adapter for a KX (or other camera with the Judas window) the Tamron AD2 KM mount is preferred. The aperture ring on the Tamron lenses is too far away to appear in the window, the KM mount has a duplicate aperture scale in the correct position so it does show in the mount (both aperture scales rotate together).
* I must try mine on the K-1, a bigger body might balance it better.

You'll struggle to find a 28-70+ zoom from the 70's the usual 'standard' zoom was often a 35-70 usually paired with a 70-210. There were Pentax K 28-50 and 45-125 zooms and various 80/85-200/210. If looking at 70-210s one of the early Vivitar Series 1's is likely to have been the ubiquitous choice at the time.
