My partner gets grumpy If I photograph her.... doing just about anything :P

And Clackers, we need to know the position of the moon and what the ambient humidity was before ensuring any direct comparable results for as we all know, exif can be faked! Those highlights Hmmmm they look kinda Canikon to me... :P

This changed my world re AF-C on Pentax

-Disable shutter half press activating AF
-Leave body in AF-C
-Use select point AF
-Use dial pad on rear to select the AF point you want and;
-Use the AF button to activate AF. (hold gives AF-C, single press acts like AF-S)

Have fun. ;)

Another convert! :D

See everyone. Even folk who think that AF isn't that great still manage those kinds of shots. :D

Ah, not enough science for you. I see I see.

It's becoming clear that it would be very difficult to provide a test that would be met without criticism. Not that I suggest I have provided an exhaustive test, but merely, a user reflection on a trend to talk down capacities of these tools we all have, and to some degree it seems, enjoy complaining about.

For those sitting on the fence in regards to AF, have no fear, your gear is ok! For those to the right, you will never have gear good enough, for those on the left, yeah I do like those pants man, and yes, I'll met you in the gallery after I've finished this post.

Love love :D

My camera lives in AF-C mode. for all those images AF-C was used. I don't understand where all this you cheated by using AF-S is coming from?

Using AF-C, I would select my target, engage the autofocus, track the subject till it was in position and take its photo. There was no AF-S all weekend.

Anyway, if that's all to hard for folk to accept, well your entitled to your alternative view :p

Ah this ain't no fun.

Lets just all agree, that the myth of AF-C being unusable is rubbish. It's plenty darn usable. And then we can all get along taking photos like this guy.

See he's having fun.

Speaking of fun

Porsche driving is not fun. It's serious business when one is not sleeping. :P How calm does this guy look. This is the exist from the down hill right turn before the banked rleft on to the start line. His foot would have been buried here yet no smiles or childish laughter. I'm unsure If I would ever stop laughing being on full noise in a 911.

Oh and yeah. Penatx AF-C is fine.

And the humble ol' hobbyist, whom isn't trying to get stuff published, is out in the sun getting burnt and I can't for the life of me imagine how I would improve the Auto-focus on my K5 with those old DA lenses. It just works.

Completely understand the pressures of competitive journalism, and I have to concede, by sheer market weight and support of those other brands that the market has decided "they're better" But how much? Enough for me to worry about?

I'm not worried.

Pentax AF-C works fine.

Mee, Why would I want 9 shot in sequence of the same subject? I knew where I wanted the car to be, so I tracked it as It until it was in the position of where I wanted it, then I took it's picture.

Even if the camera just snapped it out the air in that single instant, well isn't that's even more remarkable given the speed of the AF lenses we have?

But I'll play because something interesting did happen I suppose. I had turned around to talk to a mate then a car spun around behind me, The tyres squelching had me turned around and I snapped these in sequence.

Omg. Do I have something for you.

I literally just had it rego'd last week! :D And yes, it's a proper early one with a sh1ty 1 barrel Solex and the 1289cc Big Block

I managed to fit some 6" wheels for it hahaha. They are Renault 18 centers that were widened. It's rubbing a bit on the rear, but folding the lips should get rid of it.

VIV LA FRANCE!

Oh and VIV LA PENATXSU

Again , I can't believe my eyes. What is this sacrilege you show before me of shots of things moving in focus! I just refuse to believe it. "LA LA LA ALALALALA!"

Mee,
My thumb was well depressing the AF button as it tracked the car and I panned my camera till it was in the position of where I wanted to take it's picture. I'm not sure what more I could ask for really?

John,
By all means.

Paul,
I have a red face / shoulders and neck in testament to how wonderful the sun was that afternoon :P

Rawr,
Yeah shhhh I'm secretly a cheating wizard.

Everyone else,
It's so easy to just read the hype and x y z review and have a conclusion made for you. Back in reality, it does what it says on the tin. So no problem. Only it's so much fun to compare numbers. It's all just measuring bee dicks afterwards when it just, you know, works.

Had a ball down at Philip Island on the weekend with a local historic car meet. Sadly I arrived (and without a ND filter) so my shots were a little limited, ANYWAY!

With my K5, I had my DA200 and a DA50-135, having hear everyone tell me how rubbish it would be I was expecting to use them like I had my Taks previous, compose an part of the track I want a car in, wait for the car to enter, CLICK CLICK CLICK.

I was able to use AF-C to track them from corner entry, down out of the corner, all day long. I set my AF point to the right hand side (because that's usually where in the frame I wanted stuff) and it worked fine. As for speeds of auto-focus, I couldn't tell them apart, OH! both the DA200 and DA50-135 have been converted to screw driver.

Have some low res JPEGS;
