The male waiting and watching over the nesting box where the female has gone to lay another egg. We have now reached 8 eggs in the nesting box, from two different females (videos available to back this up).

I know, like me, you're getting a little bored of seeing eclipse photos here and there, but I had to post that one... :o
It's cool to see the kind of radiance that comes out with increased clarity in some photos with a greater exposure.

We were lucky enough here to be in the totality zone in southern Québec, CANADA, and also have good weather to shoot that event... it was crazy !
This is what the total solar eclipse allows us to see, like the corona and its chromosphere in the red prominences along the limb. The corona temperature is around 2 million degrees!

Yes we were lucky.
Same thing here in southern Québec, south of the St-Lawrence River, not many were reported in the last 2 years...

Thanks...
Actually, I had trouble with AF using that 2x TC... I checked in LV, and AF didn't really had the subject nailed, so I switched to MF in LV.
This is definitively not a big year for Snowies again (like I said, I didn't see any in our area last year...
Apparently, I heard that 2 years ago (or so), they had an issue reproducing up north (I can't remember why atm... but low reproduction rates could also be due to cycles with lemmings populations up north... that's part of a natural "normal" cycle of the predator/prey population theory), and in normal circumstances, we often see more juveniles than adults going down south first in the winter season.
Most of the ones I saw on eBird or in the social media lately were adults like this one... so what I observe this season is in line with the statement above (that they had a low reproduction success lately).

While out on a scouting drive, my wife has located our first Snowy Owl sighting of the season in the Montérégie region.
Last year, none... we didn't see any at all, Nada!
As for the specimen here, it looks to me like a male, not quite mature, because of his little spots, but I could be wrong...
p.s. I lined up the silo behind the bird on purpose, to make it stand out better against a darker background. Harfang des neiges / Snowy Owl [Bubo scandiacus]

The light was awful, and subject was far away...
EXIF: 1/800 sec at ƒ/5.6 (ƒ/11*) ISO 3200 @ 500mm (1000mm*)
Shot taken on a flimsy tripod (forgot to disable SR). Manual Focus with LV peaking. Cable shutter release.
**I used a 2x teleconverter at the expense of even more light (so the aperture was probably ƒ/11 in reality).
PP in Lr and PhotoAI.
More EXIF and details on flickr!

I went to see this winter's star bird in the Montreal region.
How could I resist such beauty?
The handsome male Mandarin Duck is in the company of a cousin Wood Duck. They are standing with a group of mallards, a little apart. They were preparing for a siesta on the banks of the Rivière des Mille-Îles.

Thank you both !
Thanks !
Well, I did raised the brightness well enough (I use Lr standalone Classic v6.14), as the original image was much darker than that... I just raised it enough to replicate approximatively what the human eyes was seeing with that dimmed/fading out light...
