I don't have my "newest acquisition" yet, but it's paid for and cruising along the way from Ontario to BC! Does that count for something?

Thanks Carol, it's a Tamrac! I'd only seen a couple of their hokey looking sling bags from 5-10 years ago and wasn't sold on them. This one's really, really nice. Better construction than a lot of others I've seen yet still fairly lightweight

Just popped across the border this morning to pick up my new camera bag for the 500mm. I can't believe I overlooked this long lens bag when I was looking for something to transport the 560mm in. I'm amazed with the quality of this, and it fits w/a body on and lens hood mounted :)

I bought 3mm camo neoprene from here: Neoprene Fabrics, peeled off the back fabric layer to expose the rubber and went nuts with the zigzag stitch on my sewing machine :) It probably cost me around $5 to do that lens, much cheaper than buying from lenscoat, who only uses 2mm neoprene

Closer to the camera? That's where the drop in filter goes. Unless you're referring to the metal bar, in which case I believe it's where you'd attach a carry strap to it.
So much easier to maneuver than the 560. Maybe it's me, but I feel like less klutzy and more coordinated with it.

I sold my DA 560mm last week and 2 days later picked up a new/used Sigma 500 f/4.5 to replace it :) It's sunny today so I should test it out before we get another snow dump

Haha, I just noticed that while I was taking the photo of it! The ff had better come in a silver paint option too or I don't know how I'll colour coordinate
Until the paint chips off and it looks like my FA* 400. I'm still a huge fan of the silver FA*'s though :)

I've been super curious as to how the FA* 28-70 f2.8 would do for concerts, instead of carrying 2 bodies. I found one locally this afternoon. The PZ switch took a leave of absence, but the lens is in pristine condition, and for a price that almost makes me sick to my stomach.

I finally got a second body, so happy to have a K5 again :) The grip feel fantastic in my tiny hands. I also sprung for a battery grip and new lens to cover the gap between my 77 and 400.

Accidentally stumbled on a cl ad for a much wanted, discontinued lens. Made the hour and a half drive out to Squamish to meet up w/him today and am now the proud owner of this. Aesthetically speaking it looks pretty horrible with all the paint scratches and the lens hood that doesn't hold properly due to broken latches, but the glass is in fantastic condition... and was at a price I couldn't refuse
