The K-1 wasn't built to compete with anything Sony, it was built for Pentax users and maybe attract some people over from Canon and Nikon (which it did). Since Ricoh is not going to go mirrorless any time soon (or ever) it is useless expect something that competes with A7 III.

This is nonsense. Pentax is not Leica. If you want a broad user base you have to have a reasonable entry point. They don't have a Pentax/ricoh Family club in Japan to sell only D FA* lenses, but to bring people into contact with photography at a young age. You have to sow if you want to reap.

Super wides and rain don't mix anyway. You can't very well shield the front element form rain drops and they will be visible on a super wide.

So you especially registered to tell us that? There are plenty of Tamron and Sigma alternatives in that range. And also the DA 12-24.

The DA wide zoom is still on the roadmap and the DA 55-300 plm appeared out of the blue. There will probably be more plm variable zooms based on altered older lens designs.
