I didn't properly focus when taking the photo, so I was lucky to get this shot. I was a kind of forgot because it was windy and cold! ha ha, blame the weather. I usually do 100% view and manual focus, and so on, but this Image, I only did one quick autofocus so that I can compose it on a tripod, then I just hit the remote control for a handful of photos and leave, totally forgot my working process! |

I only use my 15 for night long exposure and this is another one taken with K3.
I was very close to the tower looking up. The Camera is about half a foot from the ground. Thank to the flucard, allows me to control and compost my shot from a phone. To me this type of shot is impossible to get everything right in the center without it. |

2 images stacked because 15 is not wide enough. Pentax composition adjustment feature is very handy for situation like this. |

anything below f7... , i always get quite nice starts from da15 regardless of pointing my camera at the light source or not. even pointing at the sun (well, the sun is very bright) @ f6 something, the star-bursts will looks good.
Longer exposures doesn't seem to do much, but f8 or below + circle or rounded light source will guaranty nice startbursts, it doesn't have to be very bright either. one thing is to make sure you nail the focus.
i ofter go out at night and my problem, better say it is K5 low light focusing problem too. K5 just give up on focusing anything. i have to do manual focus and the infinity focus on the longer end of my da15 doesn't stop at the infinity sign. it is a bit before infinity just enough to mess up my photo because in the dark i have no idea if things are in focus or a bit off focus. my 4 eyes are not that good too!:(
