LOL. That moonlanding shot - taken with a small plastic figure, self-raising flour and iPhone lighting - sat at number 7 on Explore for most of the day. Posted as a joke for a Macro theme group, it ended up by far my highest placing...

Today, 1st April 2019, I celebrated my 4,494th Explore, according to Scout. Below is an un-doctored screen shot from Scout - it made me laugh at least.

...and here is my second to last Explore. Taken with a Helios 40 and K-1.

Congratulations!! Well deserved. Still amazed the second photo was taken after sun-down.

So with 11th November posted photos, Daily in November participants had at least five Explores, as I had a double too (the better one below) and babywriter's jiu-jitsu hold was Explored jiu-jitsu hold | Des Moines, IA, USA. | pollys belvin | Flickr

Sunset candle, taken with a K-3 and K28/3.5

Many thanks for the tip! I actually thought about your comment as I lined up this photo at the week-end. I thought - wouldn't it be funny/ironic if I could get this scene Explored; a sunset behind silhouetted, but dead, trees. (Groynes on West Wittering beach, on the south coast of England). And hey presto, it has been Explored!! PS. I added extra contrast just to be safe.

This has happened to me too recently, with "retrospective Explores" not picked up by In Explore....it's clearly not perfect, not that I'm complaining. And this chess one is a strange one, it's ranked at 56 but it only has 58 faves, compared, for example, to the autumn trees I posted here recently that has 1,266 faves and is ranked some way below.

But the strangest one of all never made it to Expore. It's this one. It's had 17,769 views (definitely in Explore territory), but only 2 faves!!

Congratulations. Your photo looks especially striking against the dark Flickr background. It's great to see a Takumar 55/1.8 explore.

-----

Optically, the DA 35 Macro is my best digital-era lens. Yet despite posting loads of photos, my lens has never been Explored (I've had 25 different lenses Explored). And aside from Explores, the lens/album has had far fewer views than my two other macros - the F100 and Macro-Takumar.

It has become a bit of an obsession to try and redress this balance. Over the past 18 months I've been trying hard to post attractive macros, flower shots, urban scenes etc., but all to no avail. No Explores and not many views.

So I was delighted when this photo below was Explored yesterday. It was taken on a frosty morning's walk to work, and ironically was a quick snap after spending more time attempting to capture a "perfect" frost-on-flowers macro. The photo stayed in the top 50 for a few hours and attracted over 30,000 views on the day; a record for me and a result that made all the previous efforts with this lens more worthwhile.:)

Love those blues - congratulations, not surprised it was Explored.

The photo below, taken recently at Westonbirt Arboretum, near Tetbury, England with a K-3/Tamron 17-50mm was a bit of a pp challenge. It looked OK (e.g. quite natural) on my pc before up-loading, but was almost too vibrant on the high resolution family Mac, and then too dull on an old work pc! Anyway, it must have looked OK to others because it smashed my previous best on Flickr.
