Question Loss of detail and brightness.

Hello,

I have just uploaded a photograph in the Critique Section entitled, "The Devil is in the Details." The only adjustment I made to the photo was to downsize it in order to upload it here. The loss of sharpness is barely noticeable, however the photo now looks underexposed. No "POP" in the yellow petals. I re-sized it down to 1024X680. I would appreciate some way to get around these problems. Again, many thanks for your assistance.
