Didn't expect mine until this coming Tuesday. Happy post today!
The size of the GRDIII and GRDIV, but the heft/mass of the GR/GRII.
It's a meaty feeling bit of kit.

The loss of the toggle had me scratching my head a bit, but if I'm honest it took me quite some time a decade ago to become used to that particular control (the toggle specifically) and I'm not terribly worried about usability given their track record. The d-pad was rather under-used in terms of shooting operation before. At first, the GR series wasn't that intuitive to me - I had to come to understand it and then after a while I understood why it was the way it was; I'm hoping this new will be a similar experience. :) It seems that ISO adjustment is still as many depresses away as it was, and exp comp has just been moved. I really didn't change ISO values and others using the exp-toggle in the past - the d-pad always felt more natural and balanced so I did it that way and I'm guessing this won't feel much different. At any rate the added control dial replacing the toggle retains the same amount of external control as far as I can see.

I'll enjoy the new sensor for using the crop modes with better res. I do like to punch in to 47mm fairly regularly. IBIS was never a concern for me with these tiny things at 28mm (or 21 especially) but I do think it's impressive they've made it work while reducing the size back to GRD form factor at the same time. I'll take it.
For me its all about the re-addition of phase-detection. :) I've been pining for it since 2013.

This is the road I took. Though I took the inadvisable shortcut of ordering and then determining what I was going to sell to fund it after the fact. :)

The older ones are awesome and still capable. I've got someone coming to see my GRDIV today... honestly I'm sorry to let it go potentially.

I'll try to report back - I'm on here far less than I've been in the past but pop in now and again. I'll be parting with my GR and GRDIV in the coming weeks to finance this one though I'm not certain which of the those two I'll 'wait-and-see' with, e.g. keep around til I've handled the new III. To-date, the 2013 GR is the only camera I've ever dared to pre-order based on a hunch and haven't regretted that in any way of course. Hopefully this hunch works out as well. It's the hybrid AF that sealed the deal for me - the moment that was listed I was in. :)

Just curious how many around these small GR subforum parts have put in a pre-order for the GR III...
or are planning to... or perhaps just have it on the distant horizon in their mind.
or are you in the "i don't need that" or "wait and see" camps?

I told myself I wasn't going to pre-order. And then.... I did. :D
