Opposite for me if there was a change. Current firmware "seems" to have less of a problem with reds in JPEG images. Not entirely sure, though.

I've used both and get loss of detail in the strong reds with both. RAW images keep the detail better.
I will add this comment.... Pentax may have made an unannounced subtle change to the JPEG engine in one of the firmware updates (K-30 in my case) as I don't perceive the issue to be as severe as it was when I went through multiple attempts to "fix" the problem several months ago. Can't tell you how many pictures of roses and poinsettias I took late in 2012 looking for a solution.

I think it's the JPEG engine that does this. When I shoot in RAW+ and convert the RAW file to JPEG on a computer, it produces details in the reds noticeably better than the corresponding OOC JPEG.
