Hi Michael. It'll make more sense if you get into how it all works a bit more. You still get a point for a draw and sometimes that is all you need. For example, you may be in the last game of the league and need a point to stay up, or win the league etc. it can be just as exciting watching a team trying to defend against an attacking side to pull out a point. It's not quite as obvious in World Cup games as the league stage is only 3 games but can still apply. For a weaker side playing against a good team a draw is a great result so you'll see defensive tactics coming into it, and that can be great to watch.
In the World Cup though once past the league stage you have to have a winner in each game. You get 30 mins extra time then if still no winner it goes to penalty shoot out. In other tournaments you can get rematches as well.
