K5 owner contemplating buying a Q kit. Yes/No?

I think you summed it up very well! I picked up the Q kit last night. I've only had the chance to take a few test photos so far, but the Q definitely looks like a fun little camera that you can take everywhere. I love my K-5, and this will definitely not replace it, but I can leave the Q in my truck or put it in my pocket and take it everywhere that I want. I'm looking forward to testing its potential! Thanks again for everyone's input.

BTW, Fry's has the Q and the 8.5mm lens kit for $300 as of today!

Thanks very much for all of the great input! Although I would love to have the IQ of the 300 now, I know that I would not have much opportunity to use it for awhile. Buying the Q kit now would be the better choice for me because I left my Nikon S9100 in San Juan in the rental car in Sept., so this would give me a nice little compact to take with me almost everywhere.

Larry, good point with the PF on the Tamron. I have a couple of primes and may buy another later. I understand that the Q would need to be used with a tripod for mostly static shots, and wildlife shooting is exactly what I had in mind. Maybe I can come across a good deal on a 300 later.

Thanks again to everyone for the great input. I plan on taking a look at the Q kit tomorrow. Sadly, I have Halloween obligations tonight... Lol.

I currently have a K-5, and I'm intrigued by some of the photos that I've seen with the Q and adapted K lenses. I've read many of the Q reviews and forum posts, so I understand its limitations, but the long reach with adapted K lenses has me thinking this is the best bang for your buck for extended reach shooting, with some limitations of course.
I've had some LBA building up for the DA*300 for awhile, but I'm having a hard time justifying that $1,300-$1,400 price tag. I currently have a sharp Sigma 70mm EX that would give me the reach on the Q of a little more than the reach of that DA*300 on the K-5, with some impact on IQ of course. I have a Tamron 70-300 as well, but I think it would be too soft to use with the Q, but it would be worth testing.

My options are to buy the Q now and buy the DA*300 later or just go ahead and buy the DA*300 now and forget the Q. I found a brand new Q with the 2 lens kit for $280 from an individual, so I could buy that and the Pentax K/Q adapter (when released) for less than half of a new DA*300.
I'd sure appreciate some input, especially from K-5/Q users. Thanks!

Mike
