I've tried a bunch of different options, and finally settled on using a Nikon 8000 and VueScan software. I regularly make 30" prints using an old epson 9600 and am still amazed at the color, detail, and dynamic range I can get from this setup.

I calibrated the scanner using targets from www.targets.coloraid.de. Pretty inexpensive and made a big difference in color. My scans now come out almost identical to what I see on the light table.

For the actual scan process I use a modified stock medium-format tray and do a wet scan. I make a film sandwich using thin glass plate, Lumina fluid, film, more fluid, then optical mylar. I've tested it against a dry scan and the wet scan has visible improvements.

Happy to share any details, let me know if you want any more info.

Something about seeing those trannys on the light table, always therapeutic for me. Ok back to scanning...

Thanks Rob. If you are referring to the dr of the skyline, that's pretty much how the horizon looked that day, overcast white cloudy layer. I'll probably crop more off the top in the future so it's not a distraction. But I liked the thin cloud overcast veil because it let me photograph the canyon in full daylight and brought out the natural rich colors in the canyon. Many times this scene gets shot at dawn/dusk which don't do justice to the details in the canyon walls. Just my opinion, but whatever transparency film is lacking in DR, it more than makes up for in rich color range and tone.

Great images everyone. I really look forward to the news posts in this thread each week.

Here's a couple 67 scans from a few weeks ago in Arizona. Horseshoe bend is a 3 image pano.

A couple of images from my first roll with my new Pentax 67, 55mm, velvia 100, Nikon 8000 ed. I could never make it happen with my dslr, finally found the setup that gives me the results I like, long live medium format film!

Just printed this one at 24x32 on my restored Epson 9600, couldn't be happier.
